why can't i cancel the automatic top-up

Public Mobile calls "autopay" a subscription. if you are "subscribed" that means you have autopay enabled. you can unsubscribe to turn off auto pay, you will then have to manually make a payment each month.

@Kennethdickens1 , I would highly recommend that you ask for the credit card to be removed.  It is the only guaranteed way not to be charged.

@Kennethdickens1  You just have to turn off  auto subscribe in your account

@Kennethdickens1 you should be able to by going into the PM app or account online, go to the Subscribe tab and select unsubscribe but be aware that if you do not make a manual payment when it is due then your account will go inactive and you will not be able to use it until payment has been made. If you do not pay within 90 days the account will permanently be closed and you will lose your number for good

* edited: The correct the tab should be Payment for turning off "Subscribed" toggle

that is not automatic top up but automatic renewal

you can either go to My Account, Payment and then click Manage Subscription and disable Subscribed there

or you can ask Pm agent to remove the credit card.  But remember if you do any of those, you will need to use voucher to top up to renew
