Again terrible data coverage!!

I thought the issue was fixed, but apparently every time I leave my Wi-Fi your service with Public Mobile is terrible. It shows 5G plus with two bars and it takes three minutes to even load this app to put this question out there. Why is this data coverage so inconsistent and poor? I have an iPhone 12 is that too old for your coverage? I’m in the decent sized city of Northbay. If I can’t use my phone when I leave my house, I have to stop my subscription to the service. I’ve toggled the airplane mode off and on I’ve turned my phone off and on. Apparently, you rebooted my phone settings for data. Whatever you call that AND here we are less than two weeks later and I can’t even use my phone on a road trip. What is the problem? Is this another Public Mobile wide issue or is it just me this time? Will you be offering me a discount on my payment because this plan is not actually doing what it says it would. Now three bars on 5G plus and I still can’t even open apps  What gives?

I don't have a solution for you I'm afraid as I am experiencing a similar issue and none of the fixes mentioned previously (turning phone off and back on; engaging airplane mode for a 30 seconds and then deactivating it; resetting network) have worked for me or my Mother who is also on the PM network.  I have an iPhone 13 and a physical SIM and the data connection has been absolute garbage now for over a week.  I've even lost full cell signal and been on SOS for minutes at a time.  I know Telus started upgrading their 5G networks starting June 3rd and said there may be some disruption, but that was only supposed to be for people with phones older than iPhone 8, for those phones that weren't VOLTE compatible, and for people still on 3G plans.  This just really strikes me as Telus throttling down the service in the hopes that it will force more customers onto their more expensive plans/services.

make sure you have the latest IOS updates. Then, do a network re-set. I'm not sure why you're prevented from selecting 4G/LTE...not heard of that but it's not something Public Mobile locks you outta.

Alternatively, you could download the app to your cell, log in to your account and buy a new esim...it'll end up being a free replacement esim.

Sounds like you've had this sorted out by customer support, in the past. I suggest you start that process over again and request a senior technician / advisor help you. It's rare to hear customer support calling customers but you can ask to have someone help that way. Click on the orange chat bubble to re-start the process to get customer support involved. In the Northbay area, you should have excellent 5G/4G/LTE coverage in town and surrounding areas.

Use this link to dm customer support if the cahtbubble fails....

It is not possible to manually switch to anything With this eSIM. Once I go to cellular and cellular data, it shows the only option as choosing this phone number or shutting it off  every video on YouTube and AI through Google says that I should be able to choose cellular data and voice and then be able to manually choose like you’re suggesting  using Public Mobile has preventing me from doing this so this entire thing is garbage to me

Iphone 12 pro  this is an esim not a physical sim card. I think that is the problem. Maybe if Customer service could give me a new one it might work. another solution suggested said to manually change from 5G to LTE  well with this eSIM. You cannot do that  once you click on cellular than cellular data the only option is off or my primary number. It should have a Cellular data option to then choose Voice and Data to then choose manually for 5G, 4G, LTE etc. I no longer have that ability since I got this eSim. I need a human to call me to work this out with customer service. This carrier is a problem and they just “fixed it” a few weeks ago. Im very disappointed in Public Mobile. Guess I should pay twice the price and get a full service.

hi @Mikeddy

what phone do you have?

Try Reboot phone and click Reset network settings

and you have a physical sim?  test it on another phone

@Mikeddy

try manually selecting 4G/LTE instead of 5G...see if things speed up. Your 12 should work fine with Public Mobile; just getting a bit...dated. Maybe time to upgrade ? If you can try your Public Mobile sim in a diff cellphone to see if things improve also.
