I purchased a US roaming add on, but I’m not sure if the transaction went through. I am worried that I will be charged roaming fees. How do I know if my add on purchase is working?

Roaming addons are for use when you are in the U.S.A. only.

So, you will know if they are working if you can use the addons you purchased while you are in the U.S.A. Roaming addons will not work while you are in Canada.

 

IF you are wanting to call the U.S.A while you are in Canada that is a regular addon needed (not a roaming one).

Unlimited U.S. Talk, Text and 250MB Data Bundle = $20
Unlimited U.S. Talk and Text Bundle = $15
Unlimited U.S. Talk Only = $8
Unlimited U.S. Text Only = $8
U.S. Data Only 10 day packages
250MB = $10
500MB = $15
1GB = $20

Try To Purchase Add-Ons Using Your Self-Serve Account

To purchase Add-Ons using your Self-Serve account, follow these steps:

  1. Click on ‘Purchase Add- Ons’ on the Overview tab and scroll down to the Add-On calculator.
  2. Click the plus sign (+) to add and the minus sign (-) to remove selected Add-ons.
  3. When you’ve added all your desired Add-Ons, click ‘Buy Add-Ons’ or ‘Make a Payment’ below the calculator:
    • You will see ‘Make a Payment’ instead of ‘Buy Add-Ons’ if there are not enough funds in your account to make the purchase.
    • If you don’t have sufficient funds to purchase the Add-Ons, you will be asked to make a one-time payment equal to the price of the Add-On, less your current available funds. Click ‘Submit’, then ‘Go back’: now the button below the calculator will say ‘Buy Add-Ons’.
  4. Select ‘Confirm my purchase’, and you’re off to the races!
  5. after you Add-on you have to do Rebooting your phone

    what is mean for Rebooting the phone means to turn off your phone and turn it back on again.

Purchasing Add-Ons is a 2-step process:

  • You will need to add funds equal to the amount of the Add-On to your account.
  • Then, click on ‘Purchase Add-Ons’ on the Overview page.

PM is prepaid so there would not be any additional charges.

@barb123   Good thing for PM as a prepaid service, there is no extra charge, no surprise billing!!

 

So, with the US roaming, it eithers work or not work, won't got extra charge you don't want.

 

So, which US Roaming package you got?  Make sure you select either AT&T or T-Mobile as your US provider.

 

also, the 10 days US roaming start from the time you completed the purchase.  And of course, make sure you awere that you have to first load fund and then buy add-on.  Many people just did the first step and didn't complete the 2nd step

Buying add-ons is a 2-step process:
1) Fund your account
2) Make the purchase
Are you sure step 2 is done?

 

Edit: Are you aware the roaming add-ons are activated right after the purchase and good for 240 hrs? So don't buy it too far in advance if you can.

Purchasing an add on is a two step process.  Need to load funds and then purchase the add on.  

 

You should see the 10 day roaming add on in your self service account.  Overview page.  Under My Data and Add on section.  

 

Don't worry.  No surprise charges with Public mobile.  It is prepaid.  The service just will not work if not prepaid in advance.  If data runs out, the service just stops,  No extra charges.

 @barb123 : No extra fees here. If you still see at least the cost of the add-on in your Available Funds then you need to go back to Purchase Add-ons and actually buy it. It's a non-intuitive 2 steps.

If you bought them then data would show up in the overview page and talk and text would show up under Plan Details.
