So i goofed up and did the port at activation.   I see my Rogers sim has now gone dead but I'm not getting anything on Public.   Because I did the port as part of the activation do I need to wait the 5 hours for the port to complete ....  do i not get a temp number if I port in activation

add to what @Chalupa_Batman said, if you have iPhone, make sure Turn on this line is toggled on.  And remove Rogers sim card if it is physical 

you can also Reset Network Settings and try again

If you've used an eSIM, go into your eSIM settings and confirm you've place Public Mobile eSIM as your primary. If it's not set as your primary, then do so and then reboot. Even though it can take up to 2 hours for the number to come across, usually once your other provider is no longer working, the port should have gone through. If that  doesn't work then please use @hTideGnow phone number they sent to your private mailbox top right corner.

Apparently porting was successful but I'm still dead.   Perhaps the provisioning and esim download didn't work properly
