5G speed

Hi guys, just switched to the 5G from 3G, using a Pixel 7, only gets speed up to 30. I am in Markham Ontario. Does it take a couple of days to get up to speed, like at least 100? Thanks.

@Dunkman I don't think the 48 hour delay for the throttle removal is a thing anymore. From what I've heard anyway.

I've done some plan changes and there was no delay in the new speed being implemented. It was instant.

@99guy What phone are you using and what network are you connected to? If you're connected to 5G, try 4G or vice versa. It's also location/signal dependent. 30Mbps is decent if the signal isn't great or there's high network congestion at the time you tried. And remember that it's "up to" 250Mbps on 5G plans, not guaranteed all the time.

^^^This^^^.  I would think that it is harder to speed test up to a higher speed cap and the network becomes more limiting than the speed cap.  Unless there is a need to consistently have data speeds above 100 mbits/s, 4G speed plans = 5G speed plans in terms of performance.

@Dunkman- This was claimed as false by computergeek541 ??

@99guy

It can take up to 48 hours for the switch in data speeds.

HI @99guy  shouldn't be 30

Try to Reset all networks

and disable data saver or battery saver on your phone

make sure your Network mode is set to Automatic.  But to test the full 5G speed, you can also change to 5G on the network mode
