Hello. I have a S20 with 5G capability. Under my old plan with Fido and Koodo, I wasn't paying for 5G so it never showed as an option. Now that I have switched to Public, there is no 5G option under network settings. My phone already had the latest software so there are no updates available. I also used to have Wi-Fi calling as an option but that has disappeared.
Thanks for your help.

5G is mostly an overrated marketing gimmick which allows cellular providers to fleece Canadians into paying more each month
Even though I have a 5G CA-US-MX plan, my iPhone 15 Pro Max is set to LTE without penalizing performance — plus improved battery life

you phone is compatible with PM network
But it is a known issue that S20 series does not work well with PM or Koodo, mainly because it was blocked on the OS level, an agreement between Telus and Samsung because both Koodo and PM did not have 5G support when S20 was introduced. Yes, PM and Koodo both supporting 5G but it is too late and Samsung no longer update the OS to allow the phone to use 5G on PM
But even with you connected on LTE, your speed shoudl still be as good as you are on 5G network (close to 200Mbos) Please try "Reset All networks" on your phone first, and also test the phone in different area

Hello @spkman
The Samsung S20 isn't a supported phone with Public Mobile. I've had friends who had this who had nothing but problems and dropped calls. Use this link to enter your IMEI number to confirm.

Side note, Public Mobile doesn't offer WiFi Calling.
