Will you have 5G service if you roam to the US?

Interesting. I Just figured VoLTE was different since it has to be enabled by the carrier settings provided to your device, while throttling is handled on the network side. I guess the only way to know for sure is to use it.

Data is piped through the APN which then knows your plan which then throttles the speed as it thinks appropriate.

@golfball  it is based on the roaming agreement, which follow closely with the plan details you ahve.  That's why when we don't have VoLTE, T-Mobile cannot provide us that too

But again as I said, I am not sure.  I was just saying even worst case on LTE, the speed would still be great

With Telus' roaming experience, I expect PM is the same.  So, I would say very likely you get 5G speed for roaming too if you are on 5G plan

Speeds will be capped in the US too? I thought that had to be done by the carrier directly.

@golfball I am not sure.  But Telus Roaming does allow 5G on T-Mobile and AT&T, so I would assume so.

I think for sure you will can use the 5G network there ,  worst case just with reduced speed.  But  even reduced to LTE plan spped, 100Mbps, it is more than enough
