4G LTE

Bhar_None

I purchased 2 identical 4G LTE capable phones less than 4 months ago. Both of them are have the preferred network set to 4G and are VoLTE compatible. Each of them are using Public Mobile SIM cards for years and display "LTE" as the network being used for phone calls.

I'm getting Public Mobile messages on both phones that I need to change to a 4G/5G device or be charged an extra $5 a month.

I went to a Telus/Koodo store and explained my situation. They checked out my phones and indicated both would work with the Koodo network. They couldn't tell me why that wouldn't be the case with Public Mobile.

I then went to a Rogers dealer and after checking out my phones they indicated their Chatr 4G plans would work at competitive pricing to my current supplier.

@Bhar_None

As mentioned, you really need to check your IME on the VOLTE PM checker.

International phones and phones from smaller mobile manufacturers are often not VOLTE compatible with PM network.

Public mobile VoLTE phone compatibility list has fewer phones than Telus and Koodo, even though on the same network.  Public mobile introduced VoLTE in 2022 (much later than Telus and Koodo) and that is the major reason why VoLTE compatibility list is different.

Well @Bhar_None  It sure would help if you actually told us what phones they are.

You CAN check the VoLTE checker to see if they are compatible with PM.

To confirm if your phone will work with Public Mobile, please see this link. At the bottom of the page, you can insert your IMEI number and the system will advise you if it will work with Public Mobile.

Use Public Mobile's VoLTE checker as a guide only, as results are not always 100% accurate.
