3G compatibility

I have a 3G subscription and am about to upgrade my phone.

is 3G UMTS B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B8(900) ok with Public Mobile?

@MoniqueB   If you think you might want to visit the USA with the phone, or keep it for longer than two years, you might want to confirm with customer service that it will be provisioned for VoLTE (Voice over LTE).  It may depend on the model also, will it be a Canadian model?   I notice at least one other Canadian carrier reportedly doesn't enable VoLTE on the A54.  You can contact customer service via private message using this link.

Yes that phone is compatible, as it has the required specifications.

My future phone is a SAMSUNG Galaxy A54 5G. Being an occasional user, I do not need speed or much data. Specs of A54 includes 3G UMTS B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B8(900) and I wanted to know if compatible with Public.

@MoniqueB   From the PM compatibility FAQ

Public Mobile operates on HSPA, 5G, 4G LTE, and LTE Advanced networks.

  • 5G, 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS).
  • HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS).

You should be fine to go to 4 or even 5G, but just to make sure what’s your phone name you’re upgrading to?
