3G Shutdown and Pixel 3a Concern

Zephyr87

Hi

Currently on a 4G Plan with PM.

However, I received the text message today saying that in March 2027, 3G will be shutdown.

Now I use an old Pixel 3a and I know its 4G LTE and its  VoLTE capable. And the network on my phone that I use says LTE (recommended). However, when I check the whitelist on PM via IMEI number, it says its not compatible. Meanwhile, on Telus, it says it is.

Am I ok or will I need to buy a new phone soon? I'm assuming I'm fine but I don't want a nasty surprise come March 2027. I need my phone for work.

Well that sucks. I got a lot of time though at least.

I was just thinking about getting a Google Pixel 10a if that's the case.

@Zephyr87 you need to Pixel 4 and above to be VoLTE to be compatible with PM network

There is really nothing much you can do other than to get a phone that is compatible with PM's VoLTE network.
iPhones 8 or later, Google Pixel 4 or later, Samsung S22/Flip 2/Fold 2/A15/A35/A55 or later, or other major brands of phones released after 2024 and are designed and sold for the Canadian market should work.
