2 phone numbers

I just activated my public mobile and chose a number from their list of options.

after doing this I requested transfer of my old number.

in my account settings I had initially made a primary number and then it had an option for a business number. So I chose to put my transferred number as the business number and the primary number remained as the original number I had chosen. I thought that made sense for when the transferred number was done transferring.

I also chose to do an e-sim when I activated my account.

It’s been about 3 days since i activated my account. I now I have 2 numbers and i always have to adjust my settings in each contact to receive and send texts or calls from the transferred number. It also shows up that I have 2 for my contacts (they sometimes get messages from my original and sometimes from my transferred, which displays in different text windows for them)

I am hoping this is just a hiccup while the number is done transferring but it still seems odd that they would both work. It’s also odd that I have to constantly change the settings for my contacts to receive/send texts and calls.

I do not want 2 numbers I only want my transferred number and I don’t want to have to adjust this setting for each contact.

Does anyone else have this issue?!!!! It’s driving my crazy!!

You cannot have 2 numbers on one account. Each number has to have its own plan, subscriptions, unique email, etc.

If your phone has ability to have 2 SIMs then you would need 2 PM accounts and then dedicate one number as business and other as personal. Accordingly you would port your number to a plan you need to have that number.

@LisaBeth88

After you chose to port the number from another number, the "new" number you got from PM no longer active.  It is only the number that you request porting will be with the account

Try Roboot phone and Reset network settingsfirst.

Go to Settings and make sure the number transferring is showing up there.  If still showing the "new" number from PM,  delete it first.  Then reboot the phone.  Go back to Settings and add the number back.  And the Reset Network Settings again

Then go to your Settings-> Cellular.  Make sure only Public Mobile sim is showing there (if you still see the sim from your old carrier, disable it , or if you still have the old provider's physical sim, remove it and Reset Network settings again)

And the "new" number you got from PM should NOT be there.  If it still there.  Just make sure the number transferring into PM is set as Primary
