I'm on the $10 prepaid plan.
When I call my PM number I've enabled the extended absence option but it still shows a line item on my usage at around 7 seconds.
Here are my detail:

There is a learning curve I find here, but once you get to know most of it, it will become second nature.

Yes, it can be confusing. As long as your minutes don't get used for those 7 seconds, you should be fine....

Does the 7 seconds count as one minute towards your 50 minute plan?
