Note: The promo plan has been removed from our website; however is still available in the activation portal and in Self-Serve.
We will be honouring the promo plan for all customers who ordered their SIM card between October 25th-November 16th, but did not receive it before November 20th.
Why the November 16th cut-off date you might ask? SIM card orders take 1-2 business days to arrive at your home, and Canada Post does not deliver on the weekends. Knowing that there is a lead time for SIM cards to arrive, we have temporarily stopped SIM card ordering until after the promotion is complete. This is because anyone who would have ordered a SIM card after November 16th would not have received their SIM card in enough time to sign up for the promo plan. We didn’t want anyone to get your hopes up and then be disappointed.
If you get a SIM card at one of our pick-up locations this Friday and Saturday, you will need to sign-up for our promo plan on or before November 20th. The promo plan will not be honoured for these customers after November 20th.

Hey Community,
Yes, you read the subject line correctly! From October 25th to November 20th, we will be offering an amazing promotion where you can get 12GB of data, unlimited province-wide talk and unlimited global text on a 90 day plan for only $120. This equates to 4GB each month for the low, low price of $40 every 30 days. If there was ever a time to get friends and family to join Public Mobile, now would be it!
Check out the full details below to see how you and your friends and family can sign up for this awesome plan!
Things you need to know
- This is the only promotional plan during this period. No other plans are affected
- During the promo period, there will be two plans totaling $120: (1) the 6GB unlimited province-wide talk and global text plan and (2) the promotional plan, which has 12GB of data. Please be sure to choose the plan with twice as much data for the exact same price!
- If you have signed up for the promotional plan, you will be able to keep it after the promo period, as long as you are an active customer. This means that, as long as you are an active customer on this plan, your plan price will remain at $120, even after your initial 90 days. No surprises.
Getting the plan
Pick & Pay Customers
If you are an existing Pick & Pay customer and are interested in taking advantage of the promo plan, you have two options:
- If your plan ends during the promo period: You can sign up for the plan in self-serve, as you normally would to change your plan
- If your plan ends after the promo period: You can future date a rate plan change during the promotional period, and have the promo plan take effect after November 20th. For example, if you’re currently on a 90 day plan that ends on November 28th, you will be able to sign into self-serve anytime between October 25th-November 20th and future date the promo plan to take effect upon your existing plan’s completion. Come November 21st, you would no longer be able to future date the promo plan.
This means that everyone has the option to take advantage of this great deal, regardless of when your existing rate plan ends.
Legacy Customers
If you are a legacy customer who is interested in having this promo plan, you will need to call into the call centre and upgrade to the Pick & Pay plan. Please note that, once you switch to a Pick & Pay plan, you will be unable to switch back to your old plan and will lose access to the call centre.
New Customers: You want to join because the grass is really greener over here
As a new customer, you can add the promo plan when you are prompted in the activation process. You will need to have your SIM card in hand in order to activate, so please be sure to order it first!

Everyone will be on the same LTE network. PM doesn't throttle download speeds.
This is a great time to bring in family and friends. I will be doing the same.
Are you @imm1304 sure about this? I did more than 10 times different combination test with 3 phones (1 iphone) and 3 different sim cards (1 PM card, 2 telus sim cards).
All test within 10 minutes, some tests are done side by side.
The highest speed from Telsu is 53MB, the highest speed frpm PM is 12MB.
I believe both telus and PM are on LTE, but PM speed is capped (I am still happy with PM though).
I wish I am wrong, and someone can prove I am worng by your actual test speed.

Yes, it is certainly a great option for people who don't call (or travel) outside the province much. You can also use the 200 min Canada/US add on, slightly more expensive per min but cost effective if you don't use much LD.

To the Community...
Are the 400 mins of long distance for outgoing calls only, or does it also cover if you're roaming? Like in vynguyen86's case when he's in Toronto with a Vancouver number, and someone calls him.
With this add on incoming calls are free worldwide.

Hi @vynguyen86;
Yes, the 400 min "International" LD add-on package can also be used for Canada wide calls, so would cover your Toronto/Vancouver calls when on this province wide calling plan.
EDIT: @daredogg it covers both ways.

@bizzy Change on next renewal date is the future date option. As long as you change your plan before November 20th, you'll get the promotional pricing when your plan renews.

Some people have been asking if they've done the plan change correctly. To know that you've got the 4GB / $40 promo, you'll see Fall 2016 Promo under NEW PLAN when changing your existing plan from within My Account. If you see that, click Change on next renewal date, as many have already explained and you'll get the promotional pricing on your next renewal.

Can someone explain this to me? I just joined PM last week, so I'm still pretty new to things. I might need a step by step instruction on how to take advantage of this promotion. I logged into self-serve but what do I do after that?
Could someone please provide a step-by-step for this? When I goto Change Plan, I get two options 1) Top Up Your Account 2) Change on Renewal Date. Where is the option to FUTURE DATE?
My current plan ends on November 26th so if I choose option 1) Then I will lose approximately 1 month of service. If I choose option 2) then the plan will be renewed AFTER the expiry of the promotion (Nov 20).
Someone please advise.

If we change plan to this promo plan and add the $15 for 400 min of long distance would this be considered local nationwide 400 min? (i.e. plan based out of Vancouver, travelling in Toronto and making a local Toronto call/Vancouver call)
Thanks

Hey @markjanzen,
Thats correct. To take advantage of this promo while keeping the ability to call canadawide, you will have to get a long distand add-on or use alternative free services like fongo or Google's hangout dialer.

I changed my existing $120 6gb to $120 12gb through self serve upon next renewal.
If one wants to confirm the changes, all you have to do is select change plan again and you will see the pending plan for the next renewal. Just don't follow through with another plan change and you should be all good.
So far I used 800mb out of 6gb and I have a month and half left until renewal so 12gb is overkill but very helpful in case I had to rely on it as a hot spot since our Rogers internet was down for a day and we used my wife's PM data plan to hotspot our laptops and we used up 1.2gb out of her 6gb just like that.

Same question here.
The promotion is applied when selecting "Province Wide"
Any way to make it work with "Canada Wide" ?
Thank you,
Jairo.

Can someone confirm to me that I'm doing this right?
I logged into my account, I hit change plan - then selected this plan, and then I hit "change on next renewal date" (my renewal isn't until January).
This will get me this new plan starting on my next payment, and then I will keep the plan going forward?
Thanks,

Just to close the loop on this, I've marked my account to autochange on my renewal date for this amazing deal (Dec 17 renewal).
I see I will get this deal when the renewal happens.
To clarify, this is going to be my ongoing plan (prov/global txt/12 GB) going forward on renewal (Dec, April, July, etc....)
I think that's how I've read it ... can someone confirm? I don't want the $201 that is outside of the promotional period.
Thanks.

Hi @acehao;
It's actually quite simple. After logging into self serve, you will see a Change Plan button on the overview page, click that and then pick the new plan. Then at the bottom right click the Change on next renewal date button. That's all. (Do not pick Change now, as that will forfiet the remainder of your current cycle).
BTW, Happy Birthday!
