Things to know
Getting the plan
Pick & Pay Customers
If you are an existing Pick & Pay customer you can sign up for the promotional plan in self-serve. Just paid for your next 30/90 days? Don’t worry, you can future date a rate plan at any time during the promotion. This means after your current service period is up, you will automatically be switched to the promo plan. Just make sure you future date your rate plan while the promotion is available because once it’s gone, you won’t be able to get it!
Legacy Customers
If you are a legacy customer who is interested in the promo, you will need to call into the call centre in order to change your plan to the promotional plan. Please note that once you switch to a Pick & Pay plan, you will be unable to switch back to your old plan and you will lose access to the call centre.
New Customers
As a new customer, you can sign up for the promo plan through the activation process. You will need to have your SIM card in hand in order to activate, so please be sure to order it first! Remember, this promotion is for a limited time only so, if you want to take advantage of it, be sure to activate as soon as possible!

@jpar (and others) - based on the number of activation and port failures I am still seeing on the regular here in the forums, it's still pretty clear that the self service portal is still absolutely not ready for a promo that will generate that level of demand on the servers. Not to mention that as far as I'm aware, there still isn't a proper ticketing system in place either. The LAST thing PM needs is people sending 20 messages to the mods every time they have a single problem, hoping to get their problem solved more quickly.

Would have loved to see last year's 4GB promo again 😕

Now if PM can bring back 2016 fall promotion, that would be awesome. This promo is still great. It never hurts to make a great promo greater! 🙂

Unless knowing about the fall promotion means that you also have a time machine, it still remains a great deal for those peiople too. It's not as *good* of a deal, but it's still just about the cheapest you're going to get for this much data on a good network outside of SK, MB or QC.

I absoultely agree with you "Pratchak"

Indeed - as we're not on contracts, there's no guarantee that price will never increase, ever... But PM is about as good as it gets for "not increasing prices unnecessarily". The only reason they're bumping prices on those old pioneer (or whatever they're called) customers is because they're trying to gently "encourage" them to switch to a plan that doesn't have call-centre support (it's also why they offered to switch those customers over to a same-priced plan on Koodo, as well), because PM has made it very clear that they'd like to eliminate the call centre entirely so that all subscribers are on a single method of support - online-only.

We can't say it will never change, however if it is to change, Public Mobile has given 30 days notice for previous price changes.
For example, Legacy and Pioneer members who have been here for a long time had grandfathered plans at their low low prices, and only this month, have their plans increased. This is the only forced change (of plan, or price) that has happened.
Last summer (2016) PM changed their standard plans (options changed), and the prices with the options. Thonse on the old previous plans were not faced with an increase, nor forced to change plans. This is what also has happened for the fall promo (2016), and should continue with this current $55 promo.

Once activated on the $55/4Gb plan, will price remain constant or will PM change pricing at their discretion?

$5/month for unlimited data WOW. I would not budge ever on this plan. Hopefully it gets grandfathered forever. It's crazy how the wireless landscape changed so much over the span of a couple years.

@Brads19 don't pay again - you just have to wait out your current 90 day cycle. If you future date your plan change now, you'll still get the plan you chose today even if it's no longer offered in 90 days.

If the $55 per month(ish) is lower than your current / old provider for 4 gigs or less, switch.

Untimately it's up to how you have or will use data, and what calling and texting you need.
back in the fall, I took the extra data, because the price was the same as my current plan. WIN WIN for me.

This is precisely what I just did today!
I came from a 6GB /month plan and was a little worried 2 wouldnt quite be enough, guess I'll use the remaining 45 some days as a test to see 🙂

Yes thank you i will set it up for the future.

The thing is that this is my first week with public so i dont know how much i will waste on public mobile. On freedom i used to spend about 6gb per month

I have a quick question is it a good idea If i switch to this plan i have the 6gb for $120 currently.

I also think that letting folks know about this and Public Mobile is a great idea as chances are their plan costs more or has less. Then if another plan comes along that is cheaper or better combination for them they can switch to it, much easier than ordering a sim & starting fresh.
Dont forget the other aspects of PM that I appreciate:
- It's pre-paid s can't have bill surpirses of extra costs.
- has add on's that don't expire for CAD long distance & few others
- now have USA roaming - admitedly this is a bit awkward to add as there's no start date aspect so just starts right away & runs for 10 days but again - no surprises on bill
They also have the other talk & text special running.which might appeal to some too. I used to be on Koodo text plan & added minute & data bundles - which also don't expire but with PM - you can do soemthign similar if you don't use data that often (i.e. s***w go wifi or te**s or other wifi). The fall 2016 special was amazing but specials & situations change, this is a good way to get in. Maybe until next black friday/ fall special.

When I found out about PM's existance, the fall promo was over by a week. 😞 However, I was paying Rogers $84 per month for 6GB. I decided to join PM regardless of not getting the promo since ($186/3=)$62 per month was better than $84 per month. With this latest "promo", although not the quite what I was hoping for, still reduced my bill from $62 to $55 per month. So I can't really complain... but I sure hope we see something else a little closer to the fall promo, even if they don't match it exactly.
‎04-24-2017 01:45 PM
Definitely not as good as the fall promo, but I'll be sharing this with my friends.
Besides, I would have dumped Rogers @ $55 a month....
Happy Monday everyone!

Depending on what you use your phone for, sure. It's rare that you're going to find a sub-$300 phone that can compete with a flagship phone. However, there are often extremely good deals on year-old flagship phones. The S7 currently on sale for $504 at Koodo is a pretty great price IMO.

@kav2001c wrote:lol @Shutdown what massive discount? On a new piece of hardware the best the big3 ever give is $200 off (less if phone is new). Freedom doesn't give anything off unless phone is old.
They all are doing tab systems where you pay more than cost of phone over a period of time
Well, except for Koodo - they're the only one that gives actual discounts off the tab. Never (or very, very rarely) off new models, but sometimes one can find a good deal off older phones. Particularly LG's phones, which aren't selling very well these days. The G5 at $360 was a tremendous value. And hell, it's already $200 off the G6, but that still puts the price at $704 which is a bit too rich for my blood.

true we forgot pm is all over Canada pretty much lol
