Hey everyone. Some of you may have noticed an online campaign we recently launched on Facebook and YouTube called SIM Swap. What the heck is a SIM Swap, you might ask?
Well here’s how it works:
Through a series of social posts and YouTube videos, we are inviting people to trade their useless stuff (think old coffee cup or broken pen) for a useful Public Mobile SIM card. We may even use it in future ads. The videos (check them out at the end of the post) show useless items twirling slowly on a pedestal before being swapped out for a Public Mobile SIM card. We think this a really fun way to show how different we are as a brand.
The SIM Swap web page explains a couple of ways you can trade your useless stuff. For a social swap, a picture of a useless item can be shared via Twitter and Instagram by tagging us @publicmobile with the hashtag #SIMSwap in the caption. For Facebook, they can post a pic on our wall. Then we’ll send them a link to order their SIM card. Along with their SIM card, we’ll send a nice surprise too.
For those living in Toronto, there’s also an option to do an in-person trade.
SIM Swap is for new customers (you guys already have a SIM card) so if you know anyone who you think would like to join Public Mobile, let them know about SIM Swap. You can share the URL or just send them one of our cheeky ads (see links below). And you could get a referral reward too!

But lol isn't a PM SIM card already free? Why would I trade for something I could get free?
Nice try, PM, but I'm keeping my useless junk! Mine, all mine!

actually it was quite quick, i didn't know this messaging system was the way to reach people so i did it by email.
Here on the messaging system within a few minutes, someone will reply.

I assume this promotion is still ongoing. How long can I expect to wait for someone from Public Mobile to contact me?
I was hoping to get a SIM before my next Koodo pay period but it may make more sense to just order one using the standard method. The voucher is just icing on the cake.

Hey @bkam
Thank you for your patience and I do agree, waiting 48hours for anything is long Can you describe some of the issues you're experiencing?
Cheers,
Jeremy

@bkam emailing support is the second longer way of getting help. It is MUCH faster to make a post in the proper section in the community forums about your issue and one of the many users of PM can help. For things out of a typical users reach, a moderator will look at it; usually we cc them in our posts like I just did with your name

@Jeremy_M I took part in the simswap and got a voucher, but I must say the sign up process is proving rather diffuclt and fustrating, and having to wait 48hr for a email response is quite limiting. Wish there was a faster way of getting support.

Hello,
How long does it take to receive the SIM card after submitting the request if I'm in Toronto area.
Thanks

Sign into your self-serve account (https://selfserve.publicmobile.ca/), and click on Plans and Add-ons, and then Change Phone Number.

How can I change my cell phone number

I like this idea!! Nice campaign 😄

@Jeremy_M I like the ads but I have a better idea for the promotion. You should tell people to trade in junk then sit back and see what you get. Winner for most useless item gets something as a bonus (maybe 1 month free service). Only for new activations of course but you could have some fun with it making ads out of entries and letting community vote / comment.

Agreed very original promotion. That's why I love public Mobile when the run contests like this.

Love this promo.. I heard people talking about it yesterday.
PM is unique and these campaigns represent the brand well in my opinion.
