When the login asks for a phone number, click "Try another way" and get it to send the verification code to your email instead. Then, once you're logged in, you can change the phone number on the account to something else for the mean time.
I just transferred from Koodo to Public. Once the new number was ported over to Public, Koodo sent me an email saying they're sorry to see me go and will prorate my last bill.
I was lucky I only had phone number glitched out. The email was working and I was able to access my profile and update my phone number through that way.
