to me the discount not being seen there though makes sense as it shouldn't show up until the new plan is in place. Don't want to cancel the change as I don't see the $55 plan anymore on my plan change page.

This is the screenshot I have of the code being accepted. Other than this page showing it being accepted I don't see any other indication that its coming off the $55/month charge on the main plan change page.

I do have the screenshot that the code was accepted on the plan change page so if they won't change it, I guess I'll just have to fight with them to accept it.
