I am unable to text with my phone or connect to my data. I can connect with email when connected with a wifi. I am able to call and receive calls without wifi.
The SIM card was put in another phone, and it did not work either. So, it was not my phone.
I purchased a new SIM card, as suggested by the moderator team. The SIM swap was successfully, but the problem still existed.
The moderator team sent my problem to higher tech support. They were to contact me in 24 to 48 hours, but did not, so I contacted the team again.
Still waiting. Any suggestions?

My texting is back, but no data yet.

This was exactly the solution that I needed - thank you very much! I just followed the first link to update the app and then re-started my phone and now my texting is back to normal.

I have a solution for Android users who suddenly couldn't send/receive SMS-texts as of December 2 or 3 - but it's not relevant to lack of cellular data, so you may be having a different problem.
My inability to send and receive SMS-texts was due to a bad update that Google released on Android on December 2 or 3, for Carrier Services.
I believe that Google has now released a fix for that problem, so the first thing to try is updating again.

The developers of my preferred texting app (Textra) provided this information, with an immediate workaround for the problem, without waiting for Google's fix:
VERY IMPORTANT: Google have just rolled out (most likely a mistake) a change which impacts all SMS/MMS apps, (so not specific to just Textra) resulting in delayed SMS messages.
To see if the problem impacts you, open the Play Store app, search for Messages (by Google) and if there is a button there that says "Enable" then you need to press that. If not, then the issue does not impact you.
This workaround does NOT require making Google's Messages app your default app for SMS; it just needs to be *enabled*.

I am having the same problem. I have not tried a new sim card yet but I would rather not waste the money ordering one if it didn't fix the problem. Looking forward to hearing your solution.

Hopefully, the moderator will get back to you soon. Looks like some account provision issue since your Sim card does not work in another working phone.
You could the following "tricks" that have worked in the past.
1. Report your phone lost/stolen in self service account.
To report your phone lost/stolen. Login to your account. Choose Plans and Add-ons tab. Then choose Lost/Stolen Phone tab. The choose Suspend Service tab. Logout. Wait few minutes. Login in and report your phone found. Reboot phone.
(NOTE: this trick may mess up your rewards ie. autopay for next cycle)
2. Manually add $1 into your balance.
These actions sometimes will reset your SIM/re-activate account.

Have you tried making a payment (of any amount) such as $1? Doing this sometimes does strange things to the account that might get things working again.

Sony Xperia.
The problem happened shortly after autopay

Since the issue doesn't appear to be with your phone as you tried another, you'll simply need to wait until the moderators get back to you.
