Is there a comparible sim like this https://www.textnow.com/wireless/sim-card that uses LTE ? That you can pop into your phone and enables you to call and text in the US or Canada. Thanks.

Or... install TextNow free.
Receive texts (and calls) as normal.
Connect to a wifi somewhere.
Reply to texts in the app.
Call back if need be in the app.

@will13am mom's going to the States for 3 days in July. I'm going to buy the SIM and stick it in her phone to test it. If it works, great, if not. Thanks for the suggestions.

That basically says that my Umidigi A3 is compatible with sprint on these 2 LTE bands only.
4G1900 MHz . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .850 MHz . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .So my question is. Would this be enough for deccent cell service in the States? Thanks.
How about giving this deal some consideration. AT&T is fully compatible as it is a roaming partner.

Sprint does offer 1900 Mhz service.

The only GSM network in Canada will be taken off grid by end of this year. So I'm not sure why you'd want to get something that only works for another 10 months or so?
Edit: Not the "free for life if you buy the SIM" you are looking for, but Canadian VOIP Fongo now sells data only SIM cards, that you can combine with their existing services. https://www.fongo.com/ditch-your-talk-and-text-plan-2/
