Can I add a sim card from Italy to my phone? Or an e-sim card?

if your question is whether you can use your phone with an Italy sim card, then likely a yes. But it also depends on the bands on your phone, your phone might or might not be compatible with your Italian carrier

But you can also use eSIM, travel eSIM is easy and cheap.  @CharlieWhisky  had given you a great suggestion about Airalo.

if you have a cell phone with dual sim slots you can use your active PM service while in Canada (or US with an add-on) AND you can use the second sim slot for any other sim you might have from elsewhere. Some cells have 1 physical sim slot AND esim as well.

You can put any SIM in your phone. eSIM will only work if your phone will support eSIM.

A sim card from Italy will not work with PM.

You need a PM sim or esim if this is a new activation.
