I have been with Public Mobile since 2019 though however recently have network signal/connectivity issues since we moved to a new location (another part of the same town). So I decided to have my primary number switched to another service provider, say B and to keep the existing PM account/plan active by continuing with a new number.
When I sought help this is the solution I received from PM Customer support:
1) First I need to buy a new PM sim card (costs $10).
2) Then I have to "activate" the new sim online and pay the monthly charge for a plan (so generous that I could choose any plan at my will - however costs $15 for the cheapest plan!).
3) Afterwards I need to get back to PM support team so that they will transfer my existing number to the new account/sim and assign a random number to my old PM account/sim.
4) Port my primary phone number to service provider B.
5) Close/deactivate the new PM account (for which I just paid $25+taxes) after porting is complete.!!
That means PM doesn't want to retain a loyal customer even when the customer is willing to stay!
So I've decided not to stay with PM anymore, and hence no need to retain the account.
Rather I'll simply port out to a better service provider!
I really feel sorry that I referred my wife to PM, anyway I'll sort it out soon, not waiting too long..!
Can anyone here tell me which of these have better coverage and customer service : Rogers/Fido/Chatr or Bell/Virgin/Lucky..?
Update: It seems a CS agent from PM has come up with a generous offer so that I don't need to pay additionally for a monthly plan on the second line/sim which I need to activate towards making the number switching possible.
That makes me feel that a 3 years loyal customer is important to PM. So I'll stay with PM with a new number while also switching my primary number to another provider due to network/coverage issues.
Thanks to everyone who replied..

Policies and procedures can always be circumvented to favour the client. If somebody with authority decides the customer's business is worth keeping. But of course they can't allow exceptions to become expectations, they're still a business and still have to make money, so they have to announce rules which are fair for everyone.
The Mods helped me (and others) with things like a free 10-day pass to ease a referral's number port worries, free add-ons and credits to temporarily ease another referral's financial crisis. Years ago, though it impressed me (and my referrals) greatly. These small gestures earned customer trust and loyalty ... instead of letting angry/frustrated/stressed customers drift away with anti-PM grudges. I suspect these sorts of informal arrangements still exist at PM, even if they are formally against the rules PM's low-tier employees must obey.

@akkerala...which area of Canada is your new location. There could be any number of reasons why signal strength can be adversely affected. I understand your thought to migrate somewhere else...but make sure the new provider doesn't have the same signal / connectivity issues.
Let us know where you are and that may get us to understand what's happened to your service. I'm in small community in BC and am totally satisfied with PM signal and connectivity....but service isn't continuous through the mountains yet.

@akkerala - your answer depends on the needs and wants of your audience you are asking.
Therefore, you could get all over the map answers here or elsewhere if you are asking similar/same questions with other providers.

HI @akkerala
Coverage wide, Bell/Virgin/Lucky are the same. The only difference is that Bell and Virgin has VoLTE which helps in area that 3G lacks
Rogers/Fido/Chatr has a slightly different coverage than Telus/Bell combination, so, it really depends where you are
With service, Tier 1 provider usually better but $$,
Tier 2 provider is better with price (slightly cheaper) and still provide the same service as Tier 1
So, if you want to test out, Koodo, Virgin, Fido would be a good balance between price and service

Do you go to Ford car forum and ask do they like Honda and Toyota cars?????
Over here we are all PM dedicated. There is a reason why we like PM. 1-2 are normal. What did you expect??? $10 for SIM - your fault - you did not do any research. I paid $0.
$15 for 'however' cheapest plan? Find me cheaper with the same features and rewards and I will look into it.
3-4-5 is confusing. PM has no account closing fee. And again, if you ported number out of PM your account will be closed with no refund. Again, lack of research and understanding how PM works. Even though ALL answers could be found searching through Help or asking here first. Community is open to everybody not only for PM customers.
