what I as a customer would like to see is a application of public mobile for phones. Where you can easily accessed your account on the go without going to internet searching the site and loging in. Also in this app customer could easily top up with their debit/ credit cards. This idea will be more practical for those who are contanstly on their cell, and with one click can accessed their accounts

BTw, Here's a screenshot of what I was referring to:

I wanted to post separately, but figured I might as well just add-on here: Said app should have a secondary area for Community. Since this community seems to be the hub of ALL communication with the company, not just for socialisation, but for actual problem resolution (read: there is no more phone numbers one can call for help) it would be very convenient to have an app with community access for more direct usage in a mobile setting.

Though PM Currently lacks a App, on handsets, You do have Mobile version

BTW, PM data usage isn't always the same as handset usage reporting; If I understand correctly, PM rounds up data usage (per session) to the nearest 10KB.  Would be nice to have PM accurate features such as tracked data/text/voice usage, warnings, and cut-off to limit overage charges.

Does anyone have experience with similar 3rd party apps (e.g. "Onavo" )?

Hi pav, There are no overage charges. PM is entirely prepaid; there are no after-the-fact charges. When you have used all of your data, data will stop, unless you purchase an add-on (which is not time-limited) or wait until the next billing cycle. When 75% and 95% of data have been used, you will receive a text notification, even if you don't subscribe to Text. If you want to see real-time usage of data, click Add-on Usage under Plans and Add-ons. If you click Usage History, all calls, SMS and MMS are in real-time, except data. It is delayed for between 10 and 12 hours after a web session ends. I hope that this clarifies matters.

@Martin

Thanks for the clarification. I was not aware of the data cap/cut-off.

A downloadable app is not required. Public Mobile needs at the minimum a mobile website. If they want to cut costs, that's one way to make their services accessible for those on mobile devices (which makes a ton of sense since well, it's a mobile carrier duh). An app is not necessarily required if you can have a really mobile friendly website just like the Koodo Self Serve website.

An app would be a nice bonus, but I would prefer a mobile friendly web interface first so that it will be cross platform, and thus, lower development, QA & maintenance cost.

deltatux is right. All texts and calls are unlimited so you really only need to keep track of the data you use.  Most platforms have built in apps that track data usage or free third party apps like 3g watchdog for android etc.

@Chicklets, unfortunately, the accounting between your device & Public Mobile may be slightly different. There should still be a mobile friendly website that lets you check all your usage, be it unlimited or not. It's still good to have.

Plus, it's not just for tracking data but also other addons such as long distance minutes, especially if you didn't get nationwide calling minutes.
