As I live in an area that has no cell phone coverage, wifi calling is of extreme importance to me. Currently Wifi calling is supported on certain phones with several cell providers. If Public Mobile was to have this service I would switch my cell service to PM. In my small geographic area alone there is a population >2000. Telus is currently offering this service, and I am wondering when/if Public Mobile will institute this service.

@eb WiFi calling was pretty much used as a stop gap. All the carriers are going Volte (but in Telus case this is just in AB/BC & they only support the S6 & G4 phones)

Would love to see WiFi Calling and/or VoLTE come to PM soon, and on more handsets.  My OnePlus 3 supports VoLTE, for example, and I'm in the Vancouver area, so theoretically it could be available....

In Ontario, 7-Eleven stores can produce publicmobile vouchers. They are not on the shelves. You go to the counter and ask. Novice staff may have to ask senior staff but they can do it. They typically have a binder from which they bar code shoot fixed dollar voucher amount(s). As such if you need $135, then be prepared for to have to buy a $100 AND a $25 AND a $10 dollar vouchers.

Esso gas bars can too. I have found it can be a bit more miss than hit with Esso as it really depends on the staffer's level of training/experience. The necessary computer/register process may not be known to jr staff. Also, it's a two step thing PER FIXED AMOUNT VOUCHER (see about) and they may be unwilling to go through it three times if the gas bar is busy.  Mid evenings is usually best.

Luck!

WiFi-calling definitely helps when cell signal is low (e.g. a basement, certain buildings).

VoLTE isn't exactly required for WiFi calling. After all, the point of WiFi calling is instances with weak cell signal...so the type of signal isn't a roadblock.

However, VoLTE is related, to perform call hand-off when leaving WiFi range. If Telus thinks call hand-off is vital, then VoLTE has to available first...and Telus doesn't have that...yet.

Here's hoping Telus either decides that WiFi calling without call hand-off is OK, or that they finally roll out VoLTE (like Bell and Rogers). Then WiFi calling becomes a possibility.
