Hello!

I would like to suggest that the refund process be streamlined to eliminate the step requiring customers to email for a refund.

PM can ship out new sim cards that add $10 balance to the account that the sim gets linked to.  Or, ship a $10 voucher with each sim, which obviously is only usable if one activates a PM account.  I anticipate that most people would be ok with this arrangement rather than refund to their cc or paypal.

Since we have moved to a permanent arrangement now, it may not be the most efficient for @David_J and other PM staff to manually process refund requests.

Service resumes at Canada post now. PM will be back to the previous path.

Hi @Pier!

There has been an update posted on the shipping thread in the announcement section.

PM has decided to make this a permanent method with a refundable $10 shipping charge on all sim orders.

Hello @imm1304,

The process to get the refund is not appropriate. Some people give up their $11 something shipping refund. Why PM doesn't make the SIM cards available the same as voucher through the stores? Everyone should get their SIM card right away and wouldn't need to wait a long time to get them.

Thats a good question, @Pier.

Would be perfect to have sim card available where vouchers are being sold.  Maybe someone from PM can explain 🙂

Hello @Pier

I'm not sure what is inappropriate about the rebate process - everyone who orders and activates their SIM gets the $10 + tax back when email rebate@publicmobile.ca.

As far as getting SIM cards into stores, there are a couple of things to think about:

- if you take up shelf or counter space, the retailer will want to collect something for the sale of the goods

- we have to start inventorying SIM cards for all the different retailers and their thousands of locations across Canada

Nothing is impossible, but these are challenges, and typically challenges are overcome with money and people power.

I have already told PM to start offering sims at the location where they are already offering vouchers. But they denied for reasons @David_J mentioned. If this can happen, users would be willing to pay for the sim since its so convenience to get the sim right away.

Getting a free SIM was part of the appeal to consider switching to PM. Yes, I had to pay $11.30 (in Ontario) to get the SIM couriered, but knowing it'll be refunded upon activation didn't deter me. I did, however, have to do a lot of digging to find the information on sending an email to rebate@publicmobile.ca. @David_J can this info be listed under Featured Topics?

@imm1304 I do like the mailing a voucher idea instead of having to request your rebate, but with the different tax rates across the country, we'd be out the extra $1 or so. Unless, PM includes the taxes in the $10 fee. Either way, I'm sure it takes a lot of time to process a refund, when it might be quicker and easier for the system to automatically apply a $10 credit to account when the voucher is inputted.

Thanks @daredogg - I pulled the 'Canada Post Strike' from the featured area down yesterday- since the strike info was no longer relevant. My bad that part of the info was needed for people to get their rebates. We'll re-post.

@imm1304 - we considered vouchers, but there are large fraud implications with what is essentially cash that could be paid to pay for service. Automated activation rebates within the billing system also being reviewed.

Thank you for the response @David_J

This is why I trust you, the expert, to think these through.  As a customer, its quite easy for me to just put the ideas out there 🙂

Cheers.
