The thing I noticed, That whenever a Plan is Renewed, Money added, OR Add-On's purchased, No Email is sent

I think Public should consider adding this

WHAT if, example, a dependent who is using phone, Parent was primary, they dialed *611, and bought Add-On, No way Primary would receive some message

Just saying, EVEN having the ability, in the Self-Serve, to have Txt of said message sent to Primary's Cell too.

Just saying, safety net, as Public is a Prepaid, and how these work, Just saying

great idea,  we get text notifications for payment due and data usage,  a text/email for cofirming purchase addons or funds added wud be nice.  But the one flaw i see in your idea is that the there are no primary and dependants. each accunt holder is the primary as such they have control over the account.  to stop purchases via 611 change the pin number to somethingonly you know and 611 is inaccessable.   change teh self serve login and password and the dependant wil not have access to the account.

We already do get txt for everything, referral add, referral lost, payment due date, payment made, data use, data warnings, roaming warnings, roaming add ons The only one I never purchased was the long distance so I can't comment if it sends a txt or not (if not it should be an easy fix)

Good idea, as a long termer with this service where do you see this in the priority list along side the multitude of bugs affecting mission critical self service portal functions?

Unless you block SMS notification already from Public Mobile, you’d be silly to do so, you already get this bySMS notifications. As mentioned, there are no differences between primary and dependants on PM.  Each account is separate from another, and again, this is something PM will most like not change (separate vs. family accounts).

@stonechucker, I don't think YOU Understand what I'm saying

IF, let's say, one had a Teen who has a Handset, and the PARENT is paying, and they ALSO have a PM A/C, & The TEEN SOMEHOW manages to buy add-on's, the PARENT WON'T know UNTIL they see the Bill, UNLESS the Teen is paying the Phone renewal themsleves.

PLUS, with the NEW CRTC Rules, Prepaid has DISADVANTAGES that sooner or later needs to be addressed

Let me see... Every service Public Mobile provides is prepaid and there need to be sufficient available funds in your account if your want to buy an add-on.

If you don't trust your teen's spending habits don't have your credit card on their account. If they take initiative by going to buy a voucher from their pocket money and putting it into their available funds they should be free to buy the add-on they so badly want.

If I had a teen that I had brought up to be a responsible person who puts their cell phone to good and moderate use (values that I alone, as a parent, would need to teach them, mainly by being a good example myself), I'd take the opportunity to teach them about budgeting and fiscal responsibility - both go hand in hand with owning a cell phone.

If I paid for their cell service, Public Mobile essentially would be the perfect tool to do so, IMHO.

I work for my money, it doesn't grow on trees. Every month I would get them vouchers to cover the agreed upon cell service cost. I'd show them how to use the self serve account and let them be responsible for their own actions. If I did my job as a parent right they likely would not need "bail-outs" from me - and the number and value of those "bail-outs" would be clearly defined in the agreement mentioned above.

If they decided that they wanted an (additional?) add-on that my vouchers are not covering it's up to them to fund it themselves, taking from their own saved money or getting a job.

(I'd consider the lost $2 auto pay reward as monthly tuition fee for these valuable life lessons that would help my teen to become the awesome young adult that I'd be a proud parent of. Since I would also help them getting a good credit history as soon as possible, their first secured credit card could be used for autopay once they are ready for that.)

Don't really want to get into a parenting debate (disclaimer: I have no children, don't ever plan to, but I have the opportunity to interact with a variety of them, some I teach, some I'm comfortable with guiding, others I step back from), but I think you both have valid points, and both scenarios happen more frequently than we all think. And unfortunately, both scenarios may or may not happen as predicted by anyone's parenting style (though some may be more likely to happen more often in relation to a particular parenting style than another). [Reading a book called "iRules" by Janell Burley Hoffmann about raising kids in a technologically inundated world, quite interesting.]

Children issues aside, some people just like to have email notifications. Though personally, if you're going to send me an email notification, I would like to know the details of my statement or charges in my email, rather than having to go sign in to check it (which is what I have to do with the SMS, which I generally don't bother signing in to check because I find it annoying to check on my phone, and usually it's not a convenient time, and by the time it is, I've forgotten about it...).
