Just wondering as PM no longer sells phones but what would they think of a section of the forum where people could post phone deals say from eBay/Futureshop/Besybuy. Of course kijiji would be out of the question as its too easy to be scammed but just a place to post Hot Deals like on RFD.

Any thoughts people...

That would be awesome. Just be sure to point out that buying phones from Carrier stores is a no go, as they have policies stipulating one must be a client of theirs to buy a handset, though Koo is only exception for prepaid phones, Telus, Bell, Rogers and their mini versions, even prepaid, don't cater to non clients unless you sign up to them, even Best Buy/Future Shop, Walmart also don't sell handsets to PPL not aligned to particular carrier due to Contract clauses and rules in place, prepaids only exception, though selection absolutely sucks, variety worse than a corner store. Staples does carry slightly better variety, but not by much. Purchasing online, I am attempting to figure out how can it be done w/o having to sign on as a client. Example, Telus and Nexus 6, Moto X 2nd Gen, stores will not sell to non client outright, tried asking, online, that's tough. Any ideas?

You can buy the prepaid bundles from carriers, prepaid at Koodo and Telus at least is self-serve registration so there's nothing to sign up for.

You could get the Nexus 6 though the Google Play Store in Canada, some other phones you may be able to buy online direct through the manufacturer, but some of those such as Motorola do not ship to Canada so you would have to look to third parties for some brands.

Allow me to rephrase: Its not as simple 100%. For BYOD concept, its good on paper, but in actuality, there are some hurdles to overcome. Some handsets are available, yes. But if you use handset for a magnitude of purposes, Entre lv phones absolutely Suck. If PPL want decent phone, knowing where to purchase is key to Successful BYOD carrier. PM needs to have a list of general places where we can buy the decent phones. There are some PPL who don't know or have connections where we could buy a phone like Samsung G SV, or Nxus6, or Moto X 2nd Gen, and prepaid selections are pretty bare bone, if we want flash can with decent megapixel, or LTE, handsets that fit that bill are not as easy, and I'd hate to have to buy good phone, plus Sim, plus plan just to get phone of my preference, just saying. Wished process to buy our Dream phone wasn't as supertough

personally I'm against that, why? because PM Community is intended to help resolve phone issues not to sell phones, that's my own opinion, it does not reflect PM Community opinion though.

I think it would be really helpful.

It's not easy to buy phones off contract in Canada, and a forum where people could discuss which phones are available off-contract would be really helpful.
