This is not my original idea, I noticed it in general discussions. (I'll add the username later today)

I want to use Ugo wallet for "tap to pay" that is available in many Canadian retail stores. In future, perhaps Canada will see implementation of the Google and/or Samsung payment solution as well.

Cheers!

@ThatSeaOtter, while I do support this idea, I don't think it's going to be high enough of a priority for Public Mobile to roll it out anytime soon. Aside from the Big 3's main brands, I don't think their subbrands and rolled out NFC capable SIMs. The demand for mobile payments are still relatively low in Canada. Hell, Google Wallet has been stuck in the US for at least the past 3 years, still patiently waiting here.

Right now Public Mobile needs to focus on their core service, namely better turnaround time on service issues and get their activation/payment systems in order before we talk about extra stuff.

This would be a good idea for the future, not sure if I need it now but as adoption grows I would love to have an NFC sim for a mobile wallet.

PM can certainly use additional materials. Would put PM in a Sling if Omitted

iPhoneinCanada reported today:

Apple Pay Coming to Canada This Year with AMEX Support

"During Apple’s 2015 Q4 earnings call, CEO Tim Cook confirmed Apple Pay is coming to Canada this year, available to “eligible customers” here, along with Australia too. The company is partnering with American Express. Boom."

@samadhi Wow - that's bound to give a swift kick in the ass to everyone in the barely existent mobile payments industry in Canada! Smiley LOL

Hopefully, Suretap will soon be forced to transition to a HCE-based model from a SIM-based SE model. That will then do away with the need for anyone to need to have an NFC-enabled SIM altogether.

Hey @ThatSeaOtter,

Thanks for your idea! NFC enabled SIMs are a popular topic in the wireless industry that we have been studying and we're keeping an eye on it.

When we started out, however, our goal was to meet our customers' needs while maintaining low costs so that we could pass savings on to our customers. With this in mind, we created the Triple Punch SIM card.
