Just got on the wagon for mobile and WOW what a difference! I love the idea of a self serve mobile plan where other users help each other and mods come in for serious issues for a reduced fee and rewards for staying with you (instead of increasing fees/yr).

Why not create a home internet service similar to Mobile services. remove all the big three fluff, create affordable home internet plans for different data/speed ranges and (if you do) give a reward for having 2 services with PM.

I for one am sick of Rogers and Bell internet constantly rising in price for less service... Never had Telus internet as I do not think it is available in ON 😞 [so probably not available to use their services 😞 ]

There's my idea. Man Wink

Sorry, not sure how this would differ from current plans.

If you want a home phone why not pick 90 day provincial calling ($76) plus the long distance add-on (4 cents/min). After 3 months go to Canada or Canada/US wide if warranted by the add-on usage.

As far as can tell, that will be far less expensive than any landline plan?

I am not talking about phone services, I am taking about home internet services:

what you use to use with a computer or tablet through hard wired or wifi while sitting in your underwear at home (Robot Embarassed); how you do most TV binge watching (Netflix or similar), online gaming (PC or console), etc.

Using a mobile plan for this would be HELLISHLY expensive since I use over 250g a month, TV streaming chews this up!

Sorry, missed that since never occurred to me you really meant internet. I tried your suggestion for a while but regularly ran out of data, and ALL the unlimited plans I have seen (even in Europe) throttle speed to 2G after 6, 12, etc, GB. NONE HAVE UNLIMITED 3G OR LTE.

My solution was a reseller; start.ca in my case, to at least get away from Bell/Rogers. As far as I can tell resellers are only $10 - $15/month cheaper but do have much larger data caps. For example, I pay $40/month for 300 GB at 15 meg down, 1 meg up. Don't think cellular will ever be that inexpensive.

Yeah I don't know how PM could make this work, really.  Typical home internet service has SO much more data per month, usually 100GB or even way more or unlimited.  I just can't see PM making that work within a cellular service, it seems infeasible to me.  I'd love to be wrong, but not holding my breath.

Part of the problem is if PM started offering a 100GB (say) per month plan for anything even approaching affordable (say, $100/month?), how would everyone on the existing mobile plans feel?  Ripped off, would be my guess, as you don't get anywhere near $1/GB (and this is a hypothetical amount--my Shaw home internet plan I think is under $60 and gets me 150GB.... you do the math and compare to the current PM data only plans!  🙂 )

I think you two are confused. Robot Frustrated

I do not want PM to make an internet service using their existing mobile serivce... I am suggesting an idea to make a NEW division of PM soley for HOME internet services; Cable or fiber optics or other (they can leach off someone's infrastructure as well)?

I pay ~$50/mo for 300G/m (30up 5d) with rogers ... but it has lots of fluff services that I do not use. Say PM offers that same thing but $10 less and no fluff ... I bet you'd see a lot of people taking advantage of it. Then reward PM customers for having mobile services and home services (like rewards for mobile plans).

OK @Chaos_Scorpio now I understand. I think you'd better look around for a local provider rather than wait for PM! Robot LOL

Sorry for the confusion, @Chaos_Scorpio.  I think you will find Public Mobile focusing on mobile only at this point, but suggestions I'm sure are always appreciated!
