I could be mistaken but I don't think I get alerts to new Public Mobile promos. I think it would be great if we got an e-mail or text message about new offers. In particular in cases where they are better than the plan we are currently on, but also there may be times when you are looking to change some features or know someone who could use a new plan.

It would be nice but i don't know many companies that will say hey we can save you money from what you are already paying us. As consumers we must be on the lookout for promos. visit this site once a week and see if any promos are going on.  Most providers don't even offers to existing customers the say new activations only, and you would have to call and speak with the loyalty department to see what is available for you.

There is an RSS feed available for each of the forums.  You can use this to monitor the Announcements forum, or you can simply visit more often to see the information.

Sure, my ISP gave me a better plan just over a year ago because of a ruling from the CRTC telling the big 3 to play nicer with the little guys, but when a big 3 owns a little guy, I would never expect an outright offer to pay less for more.

I am not sure if this will happen. Most people just check for promotions on their own.

In an ideal world it would be great if companies (including public mobile) updated you every time you could save money. However it is still a business that needs to make money. With public mobile being focused on you selecting your plan and not someone instructing you what to choose, there is a lot more onus on us to find those deals. The best thing to do I have learned is this:

1) Review your phone plan and needs before the start of a new pay period

2) Review if you've gone over anywhere or can cut back anywhere

3) Check for any new deals and offers

4) Choose what is best for you

I try to use these same steps with every service I use and it has saved me a lot of money over the years. I know that is not the answer you were looking for but hopefully that helps.

Thanks,
Christian

@infielder6 as @stonechucker mentioned, following the RSS feed from the Announcements forum here on the community is a great way to keep up.  I wrote a how-to article on adding the feed to your favourite RSS reader app a while ago.  Hopefully it's helpful.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I should have better structured my post to emphasize the desire to inform family and friends about Public Mobile plans when a promo comes up. @stonechucker and @srlawren thanks for the tip on the RSS feed.

A promo does NOT always mean lowering your monthly bill

Sometimes a more expensive plan can have better features

eg in past 12 months

Public ran a promo where people who paid more (to get 6GB data instead of 3) had a better price point (plan still cost more than 3GB option but not by much)

Public had a very popular $90 for 90 days plan with 1.5GB (now) or 1GB (then) (chances are it is cheaper than your current plan, does that mean everyone wants to change to it?)

Public had a promo $120 for 12GB plan

Public ran incentives to migrate people from Public to Koodo ($150 for 15GB & hardware Tab)

Public had bonus data, first on 3G then on LTE plans (no autopay required like Chatr was)

Really they have promos nearly on a monthly basis... just not all of the promo plans are appealing to all people

I have suggested this way back.   Really there are not that many announcements from PM, so updating all memebers on good deals/plans would help increase the potential for new sign ups or plan switching.

Would Walmart or Canadian Tire have a promo and not send a flyer out ?     Essentially this would be the same thing.  Simple notification to PM members that a deal is on.  🙂

The difference between PM vs Can Tire / Walmart is, PM has your money already.  Can tire / Walmart needs you to go to spend money.
