Lock "Old" Threads

If it's easy to implement, prevent posts to threads older than 48 hours.  Post  banner above them "To improve responsiveness this thread no longer accepts posts. To continue click here: New Message. 

These posts do not apeear under Latest Topics and are only visible to previous posters which severely limits chances of Community response.

I like this idea.  Hopefully its easy to automate that all "solved" threads automatically lock 48 hours after being marked solved.

Well that certainly would have helped me when the decision to charge and refund for SIM cards was made.  Sure it was a related post, but who reads an edited 1st post when everything recent is 5+ pages deep?

im iffy on the idea.  If a resolved thread is autolocked after 48, related info may still be warranted, and important to the resolution.

Since they do not have Latest Post anymore :(, i do not see a point to keep the thread open once they are resolved. 

To me, latest post is as much important. Without that, if you are waiting to hear or current situation, it not easy to go back to that thread if you're not subscribed to it. They do not have to show Latest Post on front page, but at least have a link like "New Post" that would generate new and unviewed posts.

I only view on the first page... but I saw a post yesterday that was started 3-4 months ago about books ... seriously? books? What is a book? 😛

@Luddite great idea!  I'm not sure if 48 hours is the right timeframe--maybe 72 to allow a bit of leeway?

EDIT:  I should say, 48 or 72 hours for threads marked as resolved.  When they are still unresolved, I would suggest allowing a much longer period of time before auto-locking, possibly a week or even two after the last reply was posted.

@kav2001c, its 48 hours AFTER the thread has been marked "Solved"... so this means they already have the fix.
