I would like to suggest that at least for the 90-day plans, PM should increase the max data one can purchase from 12GB to 15+GB or higher without raising the prices.  I think its reasonable given that the customer is already making a pre-paid commitment for 90 days into the future.

4GB per month is way more than enough. Not sure why would you need more than that.

There are people who's always on the road, and the data round off to the nearest 10KB each session kills tons of data daily is the reason of why we need more data...

@imm1304, more is of course better but looking at the industry's current landscape, Public Mobile itself is already innovative in of itself, but I don't think there's enough competition (or the current other competition is not strong enough) to really drive down data prices. These days carriers don't really earn much in talk & text. Data & roaming is what's driving their revenue.

I may be wrong, but it might be a while until TELUS decides that Public Mobile customers can have more data. I know the Big 3 rolled back their high data caps when smartphones really got popular, back then you can have something like 6 GB of mobile data, 150 minutes, unlimited text for $60. These days (not on Public Mobile), you can get only 1 GB of data for $55 or 2 GB for $65/month (with unlimited talk/text).

I agree. 15 or 18 Gigs per 90 Days w/o increase or Moderate price adjustment may make, or break. Especially if one has a 700/MHZ LTE Souped-Up phone.

Sorry, The Phone Cat LOL Devil made me say that, LOL.

Throw in a Side of Roam to explore, and I can then say, We have the Platinum Pkge.

@deltatux, offering more data at very reasonable price is the way forward.  Call and text are the heavily under-used services where most customers who pay for the unlimited talk and text are never coming close to the unlimited level.  So that is a good source of steady income for PM.  Increasing data allowances at the most competitive prices should be the primary focus of future growth.

I am leaning more towards what @makkahn28 is saying.. 15-18GB without increase or a moderate increase in price.

It goes without saying that this is simply part of our wish list.  We can wish and hope that PM is able to take hints 🙂

@imm1304, depends on the user, I know many people (from the 20s onwards) who primarily talk rather than just use data and I know many people who use data more than the other 2. You cannot use 1 demographics to say that everyone is like that in that everyone uses more data than talk/text.

Data is still being charged for way more than it actually does for the carrier and like roaming, drives up their ARPU. While I'm all for getting more for less, I don't see this happening soon.

@deltatux, you are right about the different demographics.  But, you can't deny the facts..data usage overall has been steadily rising year after year. Talk time usage is in steady decline and this is an overall trend including all demographics. Even sms alternatives like whatsapp have experienced explosive growth.

I have heard stories that before I got my cell phone, there was a time when phone companies charged for limited number of minutes and sms and they scoffed at the idea of unlimited plans.  The reality today is that unlimited talk and text is becoming increasingly more common.  I strongly believe that greatly increased data allowances or even approaching unlimited data options is the way of the future.  There is nothing wrong in giving this constructive feedback to the PM.

@imm1304, constructive feedback is of course the way forward. However, I don't believe it will be an industry standard to change to unlimited, unless there's a caveat like throttling the unlimited plans at a certain data cap. This is certainly one avenue if a carrier wants to do unlimited data. Even WIND Mobile advertises their unlimited data as such. They used to cap all at 5 GB, but now in order to boost ARPU without jacking up the plans, they had to tier their data caps which makes more sense.

As much as I want to see higher data caps for the same price, it will be a while before that happens because like I said, data and roaming are things which carriers get the most revenue from. Plus, remember, we didn't start seeing unlimited talk/text plans until talk/text usage started to decline a bit.
