Right now, the $10 base for 30 days is like a hot potato: it's been thrown into the mix without so much use as to provide extra profits for Public Mobile.  We get it that they need to be profitable, but we, as customers, don't like to simply give out free money just because we're nice.

So, I propose (lol, right?) to give some use to that $10 base.

Let people (who want to) get the $10 base + addons only.

$10 base every 30 days + 1 addon for 1GB/$30 (example) and for $10 a month + initial booster cost, you can use your booster until depletion.

I know I'm dreaming awake, but heck, I like the idea!

I love the idea ! It would make a perfect seasonal hold plan too. Right now the $10 is utterly useles.

What I would prefer even more: make the $10 an unlimited nationwide texting plan. No extras necessary, just like Koodo prepaid.

Then make the current $10 texting add-on an international one.

I think parents would sign up all their youngsters in droves for the texting feature and when children grow up, they will need more minutes, more data.... change 'm to a higher plan - profit!

LOL. Yeah, PM needs to offer even more. But, so far they have tugged our Heartstrings, and our Wallets too.

Hi David,

Thank you for the idea and contribution you`ve made on the public lab, we truly appreciate it!

Take a look at our  reasoning behind the 10$ charge: http://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Getting-Started/What-is-the-10-charge/m-p/3729

I think once you read the post it will drive clarity to you and our community, we hope?Smiley Happy

Therefor the idea that was submitted “Give the $10 base some usefulness" is not for us at this time.

Thank you

@Jeremy_M

With all due respect, the provided link gives absolutely no answer as to why there's a $10 charge.  It is only corporate blah blah. All this could have been shortened to "Thanks, but no, thanks, we love our profits."

System access fees have been banned almost a decade ago, yet, PM brings them back.  That's forward thinking right there.

Anyway, I meant no offense towards anyone.  While I like my PM line and service, I'm really not a fan of the new pricing, whatever angle it's presented to me.  It's a huge letdown and everyone knows it.

Now, with that out of the way, let's move on to other ideas! 🙂

Cheers!

I agree with others there was no real explanation about the all of a sudden random $10 access fee charge. I knew big telco owner was going to do this, I didnt think it was going to be so quick, I read and article in September, that said they would probably try at a clean cut date (now appears near new year) as soon as they could. The links provide no useful information.

i also agree; there is no real explanation why they charge those $10. For me i see no use of it. but if they would offer something in exchange for paying those $10. When PM officially launches it would attract more customers; than make them all away.

In one of the replies above, we can read

"[...] the idea that was submitted “Give the $10 base some usefulness" is not for us at this time."

In other words, this means Public is perfectly happy with the current gouging. So I'm saddened to tell you, but my idea has been scrapped for good. Don't keep waiting and hoping for this.
