Well I already have auto-pay, so it's not a payment issue. It's more to use the built-in data tracker for my phone. I know third-party apps can support 30/90 day cycles, but I prefer to keep the built-in data tracker. Anyway, is there any reason or advantage to having 30/90 days to begin with? Maybe I'm just not understanding the reasoning behind it.
@ShawnC13, this is a $3 hit and only one time. Going forward in future years, the 90 day buffer will ensure the extra reward kicks in every 4 renewals. The inconvenience is mostly in the mind where people are used to having the same day of the month for billing. Data tracking with data witness addresses usage concerns and auto pay addresses payment concerns. TBH, this 30 day system is consistent with other prepaid services like tbaytel. You get a consistent number of days of service for a fee. No such thing as being short changed in February. Given the state of affairs with no progress on simple things like persistent self serve portal bugs, I am going to be really measured in making suggestions. No point doing so when there's zero chance of implementation. Just accept the service for what it is today.
@will13am, I caught your edit lol 4-5 so it does affect each year after four renewals this year I will be 10 days short of 2years. I don't mind the 90 days I am on autopay it notifiesme when my payment is due and things go smoothly
Fat fingers, @ShawnC13. It's very tough typing on a phone keyboard. I am a terrible proofreader. I need to hire a writer.
Edit: This is one instance where two wrongs do make a right. To get to the first loyalty rewards, 5 renewals are required. There after, only 4 renewals are required for all subsequent loyalty rewards all the way to the fifth anniversary loyalty reward. The extra renewal for year one builds a 90 day buffer that is beneficial to loyalty rewards for all subsequent years. I am going to uncorrect my earlier post.
I understand the appeal of the idea and am not against it per se. I get that it's confusing for new customers and even for experienced customers sometimes. On the other hand, I like that it's something unique about PM. I'd be a bit sad to see yet anohter thing become more industry standard, as we have seen the gradual errosion of uniqueness over the past year or so. So, while I'm not actively against this idea, I'm also not actively supporting it, sorry @sheytoon.
Ok thanks guys for your feedback, seems like it's not going to be a popular request. Going off on a tangent here, but I don't really see Public Mobile as a prepaid service. It's essentially postpaid without overages. Real prepaid service would carry over unused balance indefinitely as long as the account is perpetually topped up before expiry.
@sheytoon, it's so true about the data not carrying over past a renewal like other prepaid services. But it's already a step in the right direction to have it carry forward for 3 months. Nothing's perfect in a non competitive wireless landscape.
Just to add a minor point to the devil's advocate side of the ledger, if PM's 30-day plans were changed to always renew on the same day each month, then anyone who started a 1-month plan in February would have a shorter subscription. Not an issue for those who use the service year round, but for those who are buying an occasional month, 2 days out of 30 might feel a bit more significant.
Edit: I just saw that @will13am has mentioned the February issue in passing.
