This idea came from a post @jamestneutron made in the recent System Maintenance - October 15th 9:00 PM (ET) until Sunday, October 16th, 2016 7:30 AM posting.
He asked if system maintenance notices are posted on the main website. His rationale was that not everyone signs up for Community, and it seems some users only ever show up when they experience an issue with their phone service.
Already on the main website there is a notice bar at the top requesting people's feedback:
That bar has been there for awhile, and I wonder if it gets lost (or closed all the time)? I think it would be great to have that bar show up only when maintenance is planned, or if phone service is ever disrupted -- important announcements. Users can then be directed to the posting in Community with the appropriate information.
So, again... I agree with @jamestneutron that system announcements need to appear on the main website. Hey PM can you make sure this happens?! It must be frustrating for people who are not aware of planned maintenance to find out they can't access their accounts, or especially if their phone service is affected.
