Deputy Mayor / Adjoint au Maire
Status: Brand new

I realise that PM is in the process of revamping the Public Lab and forum generally. One thing I'd like to see is an area that would be considered "Off-topic" or more for socialising. Especially in times when there are few issues going on, it is enjoyable to post random thoughts - sometimes relevant to the cellular device world, other times relevant to prehistoric worlds - either way, it helps maintain community vibrance and cohesion.

Currently the "Discussions" board is the place for such musings, but it might help to make it more obvious with a name like "Social corner", "Off-topic", or something more clever...

Hi @youbme,

When I read "prehistoric" in your post, I immediately thought of @Luddite.

It's always important to show respect towards our seniors 🙂

Hi @youbme,

I agree. Seniors like @Luddite deserve our utmost respect.

You may not know this, but @Luddite answers posts from a rocking chair made of petrified wood. When the chair was newly built, the wood was far from being petrified. That should give you a better idea of the eons involved. Next to @Luddite, on the floor, is his sabre-tooth pet tiger, which, too, is petrified.

His home could serve as a living museum.

@Martin, exactly! It sounds like a @Luddite fan-club needs to be started.

@youbme @Martin I would appreciate all the respect to which am due. After all how often will a prehistoric Luddite be a Deputy Mayor. Of course Deputy Sherriff might be more to the point with some of our less polite users.

Since we now have this area in which to be Off Topic does that mean youbeme's Idea is mute?

FYI: I am thinking of having the the tiger cloned to get rid of all the racoons in the area.

Hi,

In @Luddite's defence, had he taken his Geritol, he would have used "moot" instead of "mute".

Luddite, take your Geritol!

Oooohhh, I'd like one of those cloned sabre-tooths....we had quite the skunk problem in the fall.

It looks like the idea became the solution - moot or mute depending on perspective.

Hi @youbme,

If you want to discourage racoons and skunks from visiting your property, use moth balls. They detest the odour.

Thanks for the tip @Martin. They were visiting our chicken coop regularly and enjoying the eggs - fortunately left the chickens alone. I'll try out the moth balls if they come back.
