@Jamezzzy93 unfortunately, Frequency Check for some reason thinks that Public Mobile has a 2G GSM network when they do not. Rogers is the only network in Canada that still operates a GSM network, so Rogers, Fido, and Chatr are the only providers you will be able to use that phone with in Canada. Telus (thus Koodo and Public Mobile) and Bell (thus Virgin and Lucky) do not operate GSM networks.
For future use, the most accurate site the community has found so far is https://www.willmyphonework.net.
OR, manually checking specs. And based on your phone's spec sheet, it is a very poor choice to use here, as it's lacking the 850MHz and 1900MHz (B5 and B2) 3G WCDMA/UMTS frequencies needed.

Suspect it is not compatible with PM's network. Try your SIM in a known unlocked phone to confirm. The PM IMEI checker does not indicate a phone is compatible with PM's netowrk; seems to primarily be a stolen phone checker.
From https://willmyphonework.net, it is not compatible.

I will add that with only band 7 LTE support, data will work in maybe 10% of the places and phone calls will never work.

When you enter the Public Mobile SIM card , does the phone ask for a PIN number or say that the SIM entered is not correct? If so this most likely means that the phone you are trying to use on the Public Mobile Network is LOCKED to another provider. If this is the case you will have to connect with the original cell provider where the phone was bought from and ask for the unlock code. If this is a Canadian Cell then they have to give you the unlock code for free, If it is a USA phone or other country , then you will have to look online for a cell phone unlocking website ( cellunlocker.net for example). These are not free but usually do the job for getting the unlock code for your phone. You will need to provide your IMEI number of the phone for this site.
Also if you have another cell that is unlock , you can try the Public Mobile SIM in it and see if the same issue is experienced as you currently have with the S5 you are trying to use currently.
Cheers

@Jamezzzy93 hey there. Uhm, which specific S5 is this? Also: are you 100% sure it's not locked to the carrier that sold it to you? (As it was certainly originally sold prior to Dec 2017.)
