unable to receive in coming cellphone calls

I just activated my public mobile but am unable to receive calls on my cellphone from another cellphone . I called my former provider, Virgin mobile. Maybe I took out the old SIM card too soon before putting in my new Public SIM card. Is this possible ?

Porting mobile number will take from couple hours to couple of days.  For the time being, continue to use your Virgin SIM card until it stops working.  Refer to the following info on porting a number.

FYI:

Number porting is a 2 stage process:
Stage 1. After submitted your porting request, PM set up your old number on your PM account. Login to your account. Select the [Plan and Add-Ons] tab. Is your old number showing on the [Plan and Add-Ons] page?
If yes, PM has done its work to setup your old number for you to call out, send text and data.
If no, you should create a support ticket for moderator to investigate. Moderator wait time is from couple of hours to couple of days.

 

Stage 2. Now, you are waiting for your old provider to release your number to PM. Not until your old provider release your number, all the incoming calls and texts will continue to go to your old provider. You can continue to use the old provider SIM card until it stops working which is the indication that your number was released to PM.

@kquinndc  Best to use your Virgin sim until it stops working then start using your Public Mobile sim and you will then be able to receive calls using your Public sim.

It takes a few hours to port your Virgin number over. Your port is likely still in progress.  If you put your old sim card back in your incoming calls might still go there until the port is complete.

Yes, the porting process takes 2 -3 hours.
