sim card in current phone want to convert to new iphone 16 with only e-sim only

What is the process of converting current iphone 12 with sim card to a new iphone 16 with e-sim only? Will there be a cost and how much?

@Rx288  It will just cost you the price of the new eSIM , to do so download the app on your new iPhone 16 and go to subscriptions add on page notice “shop SIM card now”in the pic tab it and choose eSIM and you will keep you same number and plan and have eSIM instead . Once you do your old physical sim will no longer work .
