Hello community!
There seems to be some discrepancy in plan options and confuses me.
From the external web site on plan selector there is a "Global"/"No text" choice under "Unlimited Texting".
From inside the self service menu on the plan change selector there is "Unlimited International Text"/"No text" selection. Some older posts mention "Province Wide Text" but that has apparently been removed.
I only need province wide texting and don't need international option, do I now have to pay for the international option? I do have province wide unlimited talk on the plan and adding international texting inflates the plan price significantly.
@CS_Agent please clarify if possible. Thanks!

@srlawren a better example is the bakery
Costco supports such waste... far cheaper to buy in bulk and throw away what you can't eat
So on Public if a feature is unnecessary well...

@Luddite it's like going to Costco and getting the 100 roll package of toilet paper for cheaper than Walmart charges for 48

Seeing logic in three items being cheaper than two maligns the meaning of logical.
It is unwise to always expect logic from sales & marketing (S&M after all).

Ok @Anonymous & @srlawren I see the logic now -thank you.

@ainster as @Anonymous noted, that is indeed how Public Mobile works. You get rewarded for choosing additional services, and in some cases such as the one you mentioned, the increase in discount in changing from 2 services to 3 can be as much as or more than the cost of the 3rd service. Adding texting is usually at least free (or in the case you mentioned, even cheaper) when you already have talk and data options chosen, for example.

@ainster, That's just the way Public Mobile's pricing works. In many cases, the extra discount for adding the third option is more than the additional cost of adding the texting.
Basically, in that case, not only is adding texting free, it actually costs less to add it.

I was playing around in self serve custom plan pricing and picked: 90days, Canada Wide Talk & 1.5GB @ 3G Data. (I did not click on either Text options) = $105/90days.
But if I do toggle between International Text =$90/90days or No Text =$105/90days -what gives? Is choosing Text cheaper than No Text?? Did the buttons get renamed incorrectly? I believe you are all saying that PM now only offers SMS Unlimited Everywhere Text or No Text, so - shouldn't clicking on the International Text button mean $105 instead of $90 in this case? Or am I missing something? Thx.

@lkwmaple I don't remember there ever being a provincial txt plan?
There was a Canadian txt plan but expired
They just renamed international txt to global txt on plan page after relaunch (for some reason international was disabled)

There's no such thing as province-wide texting. Carriers in Canada have always done at least Canada-wide texting. As for Public Mobile, the texting option isn't just for international. It is global, all of Canada for which is included. It's either texting world-wide or no texting at all; there's no in-between.

@lkwmaple, If you are just talk and text then the price will increase and there is no option for just provincial texting. On a basic 90 day plan for talk and text vs just talk it was $15 higher over 90 days so $5 a month extra for texting over just talk. If you have talk and data the price actually goes down if you include texting and get the 3 item discount.

There used to be more options for texting in the past which included a Canadawide texting option and international texting option. I never saw a provincewide texting option during the last 2.5 years that I have been with PM.
Current prices of international texting are actually the same as the old Canadawide texting option. So you are not paying more than what you would have in the past.
Nowadays, you only get one option. Either you get sms or you don't get sms.

I can confirm to you that there is no "province-wide" texting (unless you have a very old grandfathered plan). If you choose to have text messaging, it is unlimited international texting. There isn't another tier. Both of those terms are synonymous and they should actually be the same to avoid any confusions.
