phone calls not working properly

MelonToast

hello,

i'm not sure when this occurred because i don't actually make calls from my phone very often, but i'm unable to make or receive calls from anyone.  i've tried removing and replacing the sim card, resetting my phone, checking the volume and for any potential bluetooth headsets, and nothing has worked.

when i try to make a call or receive one, i can't hear anyone and can't be heard.  it "connects" but the former applies.  i recently switched my monthly plan on the 16th of october, but i haven't actively made or taken any calls until today.  i have an iphone 7plus, but i know the calls worked before the plan switch, but i'm not sure if the plan switch is what caused it or not.  i can still make calls through other apps, but none through the actual carrier.

anyone know what could be wrong?

All carriers will eventually remove 3G frequencies so you will need a newer phone later.

Another option is to download a VoIP app like WhatsApp or TextNow to free calling and texting when connected to wifi or on your data if you want to continue using the IPhone 7+.
I had the same problem with my Samsung S8+ so I got the Samsung S24FE to replace the S8+.

Using an iPhone 7 for Wi-Fi is not entirely safe because it no longer receives regular security updates, making it vulnerable to exploits. While it can still connect to a Wi-Fi network, there are risks involved, especially when using public Wi-Fi or outdated router settings, and it's best to use a more modern device if you can.

Hello again.

Sadly no. Once you've changed plans, you are unable revert back. However, it's not plan related. Your phone is out of date and no longer works properly with the public mobile network. Sadly, you will need to upgrade to a newer iPhone if you choose or you can try a different phone. Once again, it's not plan related, it's network related.

hi @MelonToast you need at least an iPhone 8 to use VoLTE to keep the voice call.

As iPhonr 7 is no longer supported with major iOS update, it is to your best interest for security and safety to upgrade your phone.

And it is not your plan that caused your voice call problem, it is the device incompatibility.  So, going back old plan won't resolve your issues

@hTideGnow  yeah, my mobile data still works but none of my calls do anymore.  they didn't give any sort of warning or anything before or as i was changing my plan either, so not being able to make calls anymore is kind of a big deal...

hi @MelonToast

yes, iPhone 7+ is not on the VoLTE whitelist, time to get a new phone or you will eventually not get voice calls at all

and you are in Manitoba? Manitoba will be the first province to fully decommission 3G, but other provinces will slowly reframing 3G to 5G and the voice calls in those other provinces will degrade too

i've got an iphone 7plus and have made calls from my current location before without any issues.

Hello

Since you ALREADY mentioned you have the iPhone 7 plus, it might be a little too old for this service. You can go to this link, enter the IMEI number at the bottom of the page, and see if they still work on the pm network. Have you tried your sim card in a different phone?

hi @MelonToast

what phone do you have?  But your mobile data works?

please note due to the end of 3G in some arae , some phone might not receive and make calls    Only phones on this list can use VoLTE to recieve calls on the LTE network
