@Melissamuiser welcome to Public Mobile, and the community. When you went to change your plan, the system would have warned you that if you change it right away, you forfeit the rest of your current plan without refund. The alternative is the other button, which is to schedule the plan change for your next renewal (at the end of your current plan), which does not have this draback (though it does mean you have to wait until your next renewal date for the new plan). Hopefully @Mary_M was able to do something for you? Please give us a breif update when you have a moment.

Good afternoon,
Thank you for contacting Public Mobile & Welcome to our community.
I'm sorry to hear about this - I can certainly have a look and come to a mutual solution.
Would you mind sending me your phone number by private message ?
Thank you,
Mary

Credit is completely at PM's discretion and will certainly depend on how long you used the original plan. As you discovered prepaid is exactly that; you may change your plan at any time BUT GET NO CREDIT for unused time. Add-ons are the exception as they can be added at any time and do not expire.
I suggest you private message @Mary_M with your phone number, the date & plan originally chosen, and the date & plan you just acquired.
PM is reasonably forgiving.
