If not in the US but close to the US border try turning off roaming to stop it from connecting to ys towers.

are you connected to US network ? check your network to confirm you are connected to Public Mobile, or manually connect to it and try again

Are you in the United States? Do you have the US-Canada calling plan or a US roaming add on? Which model phone do you have? Is it VoLTE compatible with PM network?

That's odd @Professor1949 ... try rebooting your phone and try again. If that doesn't work, try resetting your Network Settings and reboot.
