5G is mostly marketing speak for enabling higher revenue by persuading customers to pay more
Even though I am on a $29/20GB 5G plan, my iPhone is usually set to LTE as it works just fine for my daily usage

What phone do you have?
2 bars does not really bad signal. You don't already need full bars to get good speed
And with current technology, LTE is still very decent comparing with 5G. You can get as fast the speed using LTE with PM's plan. Ie, PM promises 200Mbps with 5G plan and you can get that speed using LTE as well

Hello.
From my understanding, often public mobile goes into LTE status and 5G doesn't always show up. The way to test if you're getting 5G is to do a speed test. If you're getting upwards of 250mbps speeds, you're getting 5G speeds. That's what matters the most.
You can do what's called a network reset. Go into your settings, network settings and reset them and reboot your phone. See if that's able to resolve any issues.
