just activated accounts and switched from bell, have a few questions

My account with bell had myself and my wifes phone. I have completed activation with two seperate accounts here, and successfully ported the numbers over. When I send a text between the phones everything works fine, it's when I try to call from either phone. All i get is voicemail. Is this normal after a new activation or do I need to do something?

phones are a note 9 and a s9

If its not a landline @Rat3keys  then your port is probably stuck contact the moderators and explain your situation.  If its a landline, it can take up to 7 days to complete. Type stuck port and follow the prompts to get to one.

There are 2 ways to contact the Moderator Team:

  • Faster response- Get help with your account the easy way by starting a conversation with our virtual assistant, SIMon. It’ll take you to relevant help articles, or if it’s something more urgent, it can help you submit a ticket to the Moderator Team. Click here to get started.
  • Slower- Alternatively, you can send a private message to the Moderators by clicking here. You’ll need to be logged in to your Community account for the link to work.

Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen.  The mods answer will show up there.  Stay safe.

There's a chance that the numbers have not been ported over yet. Text messages from Telus, Koodo, and Public Mobile customers will be received. However, text messages from other carriers will not be.

When you say you get voicemail, is is the Bell vociemail? If it is, that confirm that the number has not finished porting.

The other possibility could be that the the phone has the HSPA network disabled (which is required for phone calls at Public Mobile).

@Stormywizz Your ports are likely still in progress. My experience says you'll be fine in an hour or less. If it takes longer than 4 hours, you should contact a moderator.

@Stormywizz it's the porting process. Give it a little time to complete. If a couple  of hours pass and it doesn't . Then your port is probably stuck . Contact a moderator and explain your problem . Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen.  This connects to the autobot Simon.  Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one (CLICK on account specific question and human and submit a ticket). It could take several hours for the ports to complete.

Does it go to your old bell voicemail?

Try putting bell sim back in and call it from another phone...does it ring??

If so, port is not complete yet .you can continue to use it until it goes dead..then port is complete

Also public mobile will send you a text when port is completed
