I got the $5 notice from Public and I think it's because I'm on the cheapest plan I could find and it only offers 3G speed. Will I have to change plans to a 5G plan to avoid the penalty? I guess it'll cost me $10 to save $5 to move up to a 6G plan.

I did the IMEI check and I was check mark positives across the board. My new phone is a Moto G 5G 2024 model.

Check your IMEI at PM site. If it is NOT compatible with PM network then you need a new phone. Plan is OK.

it is not about plan but about the device you are using. If you have the proper device that has VoLTE and also supported on PM's VoLTE network, you can avoid the $5 surcharge

If it is not compatible with PM's VoLTE, then your phone had been using 3G for voice and is now affected by the 3G Network Shutdown that has just started in Manitoba:
