Hi dear, I activated my public mobile service for almost a month already, but when I tried to cancel my freedom service, they said I need to provide public mobile a certain number to keep my number . My friend transferred from wind before but they didn’t have to do anything like this. Freedom said public mobile need to get the ownership of my number before I cancel my freedom account?

@gulei, the fact the your Freedom account is still active and has your old number means your port has not been submitted properly.  Here is an old thread with screen caps of the porting screens.  Please follow it and try submitting the port again.

In the event that this does not work, then you will need to seek moderator team assistance to complete the port.  The moderator team can be reached via private message using this link.  Please include in the private message account number and PIN code along with a detailed description of the issue and the required resolution. This will speed up problem resolution significantly. Refer to the following knowledge base link for additional information on contacting the moderator team.

In the mean time, do not take any action to close the Freedom account.  This will make you ineligible to port your old number over.

If your number really is fully ported over, you usually don't need to so anything.   However, because of the way Public Mobile does number ports, many customers do not understand when the phone number changeover takes place.

Because you don't sound too sure of what was actually needed to transfer your phone number to Publc Mobile, there is a chance that it was never done.  When someone calls your phone number, does it ring?   If it does, everything is fine.  Do not make an outgoing call as a way to check because that tells you nothing.

Check to see if your Freedom Mobile sim card still works.  If it still does work, you still need to complete the phone number transfer process.

You must have your number active

Here is a copy of an old response that solved this issue:

Don't bother with PIN number.  It can only cause problems and it isn't even necessary to use it for porting.  PIN numbers can be changed, forgotten, or otherwise remembered incorrectly.  Additionally, a Freedom Mobile customer cannot call in and ask for the PIN number.  The PIN number is actually required from the customer to speak to customer service about the account.  But yes, the pin number is used to login to the self-serve account, but don't bother with it, as it is not needed.

Use your account number and skip the PIN and IMEI/ESN sections when porting your number in. There is zero advantage to filling in more than one field, and and increase chance of porting failure if you fill out more information than necessary.

I would login in the Freedom Mobile self-serve account before you activate your Public Mobile service, and leave that copy of your web browser open.  In another browser tab (don't navigate away from your Freedom self-serve site), start the Public Mobile Mobile activation process.  When it comes to porting, I would copy and paste the Freedom Mobile account number (there's no need to manually type it in for your Public activation). It is near the top of the Freedom Mobile self-serve site on the very first page after you log in.

The account over there should've been cancelled automatically when you ported over here. If you're still paying them...stop.

Oh didn't see this initially.

If you're already using your old number on PM now, then the deal is done and your number is ported already. Continue to enjoin the benefit of joining PM and nothing left to be done with Freedom mobile.

Hi, if the freedom mobile account is still active, you still have the chance to port your old number unto PM. If however, you have already cancelled your freedom account, then that may be too late already.

Everyone that wanted to retain thier old number have to authorise the porting through thier new network provider, it has neve been automatic.

In a nut shell, portability of your old number depends on whether your freedom mobile is still active.

@gulei, you will need to request a number change in the Self-Serve (MyAccount) site.

In there, find the link for Change Phone number, and fill out the information requested to port your number from Freedom Mobile.

Use the Account Number, and the Authorized Name, and the telephone number you wish to port over.  No other information is required.
