Hello!!

 

I am not a member yet and trying to get connected. I would like to become a member AND that the first payment goes for August 16 ONLY (NOT applied now). AND to keep the super promotion $40/month for 4.5.

 

So how should I proceed?

To be honest, I recommend not to complicate things.  It's scenarios like this that end up not working out and then you'll just have headaches and expect the compnay/MODS to fix it for you.  And then you'll just be mad and post bad things about PM.  It's not worth the headache and hassle when trying to re-arrange what is not built into the system.  Especially when it comes to payments.  I used to work in billing departments for major companies and it's never as simple as "change my date to this date", doesn't always work that way.  Getting a company to fix a payment date to the EXACT date you want usually never ends up working out.  There are limitations and most of the time customers don't get the exact date they want.  I suggest avoid the possible headache and either be reasonable with the dates, or wait it out and hope the promo is extended, wait until another promo comes out (there will be more I'm sure), or try another company.

 

Like @Luddite said, if you want the promo, then get it before it ends, keep life simple.

Yes - just re-read the 6 steps. It keep your old line going. You will have 2 cell phone lines for the next month

 

How much will you lose to cancel now? The method suggested by everyone here will cost an extra $10. So maybe just switch now.

There is something I forgot to mention but maybe it won't change anything. I had to change my phone (insurance).

By the - first a $10 option for now and choose now the $40 plan for the next period - time it was done, the promo had ended (July 9) the new pay period with my other phone company had started- July 17 and it costs a lot so I would prefer not to waste it...

 

So I will do what was suggested on this forum but what I would like is that my line keeps working with the other company till August 16.

 

Will this be possible?

PS: Other than that, I have e everything I need: DIM card, phone number...

 

@Shakty Last detail: be sure to give a PM customer's number as Referral during activation to receive a $10 credit; they will get $1/30 days as long as you remain with PM. Robot Very Happy

A few steps to help you on your way

 

1 - Get a referal number from someone here - it will get you a $10 credit later on.

2 - Go to a store - now or tomorrow - and get a SIM. Do not wait long.

3 - You can let the store sign you up or you can bring the SIM home and do it yourself. I would let them do it. You will wan to sign up for the $10 50min/50text plan. Don't worry, we will get you onto this $40 4.5GB plan. Just make sure you get a new (temporary) number. You can port your original number weeks later. Make sure you enter the referral number from step 1 during account sign-up, first page of SIM activation.

4 - once you have your $10 plan up and running, login to your account and select Change Plan. Do this right away, do not wait until Aug 16. You have an option to delay the start of your new plan on next renewal date - pick that option. Your new plan will kick in 30 days out (we can fix that too)

5 - when it is time to cancel your old plan (Aug 16 or so), sign in to your account and there is an option to change your number. This is the porting process which will cancel your old plan. Let Public Mobile cancel your plan, do not call yur old service providor. 

6 - When you get your new number working, you can send a message to the moderator team and ask them to start your new $40 plan now and not at the next renewal. They will give instruction.

 

This will give you the $40 plan for Aug 16 even if the plan is not available then. It will cost you $10 to delay until then.

@Shakty, you have two options, one is to hope the deal is available at that time. The second option is to activate a $10 talk and text plan today, future date the plan you want which will hold the plan on your account.  I would suggest option 2 because these deals come and go.  Nobody knows when they end.  But if you are a betting person, back to school deals may be plenty in late August.  Decisions, decisions...

Don't think it can be done and guarantee the promo. The closest you can come is to open an account with the $10 plan. Then login to that new account and click Change Plan, pick the promo to start on your next renewal which will be around Aug 23 (30 days after activating). It's possible that if you have made the payment for the promo plan the moderators would activate it for you on Aug 16.

Bottom line: if you want the promo you must open an account before it ends.

@Shakty This is a prepaid service, so i am not sure what you meant by "i am not a member yet". Do you mean you don't have access to self-serve account yet? 

To renew your plan, all you need to do is make a sufficient payment before Aug 16th to renew your plan. If you already have a cc added to your account and have AutoPay enabled, you do not need to make a manual payment.
