As mentioned, your husband SIM card should work in your phone. If data not working, might want to reboot your phone or do a network reset of phone (ie. this will erase any saved Wifi passwords). Or you could try to manually select another US partner carrier (AT&T, T mobile or Verizon).
It should work but your phone will be under his number but what is the make and model of your phone? It should be on the whitelist of phones that will work in the USA.
