PM should still keep activation for Physical Sim via Website, And though it maybe painful, PM should consider suspending E-Sims Until They can get the Issues ironed out
The App does need some Serious tweaking, as I find it currently Not as Efficient as it could have been
The Old PM App and back then Siren App was at least more Useful and worked More efficiently as well as effectively
Perhaps PM should have waited Until They could Be Fully Certain that the Issues have been rendered Smooth sailing
Just my Take
PM also should have expanded E-Sims to Cover Even the Watches and other Accessories as well

PM did, Back when it still had the CDMA G Band Network as far as I remember, along with the Siren Music App

@makkahn28 PM had an app before? I know Koodo did and it got "killed" , never aware PM had
For eSIM on Apple Watch, you likely won't see it here nor any Tier 3 provider. Apple Watch requires more than eSIM support on the carrier side, they need to invest a lot more for infrastructure for IMS/Call routing so the watch can receive and send calls. With such large cost, no Tier 3 provider is supporting Apple Watch (as well as Samsung Galaxy Watch, Google Pixel watch).
For app activation, I guess you nailed the reason why app is needed, they want the same activation step regardless of the type of sim. With app activation , the app can install the eSIM automatic , although manually scam QR code will work too.. But PM was hoping a single activation experience for both types of Sim
I am ok with app activation, but I think they shouldn't allow people to activate the first part on webpage and then finishing it using app. I see so many people struggle to login the app to complete the activation. PM should ask everyone to just start the activation on the app to avoid that login issue when the account was half activated
