VoLTE shutdown - Telus doesn't know about offer

rbcameron

I recently received a text from PM about the upcoming VoLTE shutdown. In the text it says I can get a plan from Telus with 3GB for $19/month, using promo code MBPP2P.

I have talked to someone at Telus who tried the promo code, but it was invalid. The "best" plan he could offer me was more expensive than my current PM plan. I also tried to use the promo code on the Telus website, but it was rejected.

Has anyone succeeded in switching to a discounted Telus plan? Is there a different promo code that works?

Thanks

- richard

I agree with you. I wouldn't be surprised if the $19/3GB is a bait and switch - and when I called Telus they wouldn't even offer me that!

I have add-ons that I will be loathe to lose as well. I'll probably wait until early '27 and decide whether to switch to Telus or to a phone supported by PM.

I would NOT rush to change provider.

My phone will NOT be compatible with PM network after March 2027 but I would prefer to get newer phone and STAY with PM than switch provider.
$19/3GB Telus allegedly plan might be a bait with price increase after few months and/or 1 year.
Telus' plans are INCREDIBLY expensive with emphasises on Data which I do NOT NEED. So do NOT sell me what I do NOT need...

Sorry, I may have been unclear. The problem with VoLTE on PM is not that it's being shut down for my phone, it's that PM never supported my phone for VoLTE (even though the phone is capable of VoLTE). For some unknown reason PM has chosen to support a smaller set of phone models for VoLTE that Telus has chosen to do.

@rbcameron

I heard about the 3G shutdown but not VoLTE…strange the they told you that VoLTE shutdown and the promo code didn’t work.

The phone I have (a Galaxy S10e) is capable of VoLTE, and is supported on Telus' main network (confirmed with their IMEI checker) but not on PM

Since most Telus stores are independently owed, im not surprised that the individuals wouldn't know about the shutdown or offer.

I think you would have better luck callimg the 1800 for Telus call centre.

@rbcameron , are you considering switching to Telus to avoid the impact of the 3G shutdown?  If you are, it won't work as the 3G shutdown affects Telus and sub brands including Public Mobile.

hi @rbcameron

ask your Telus friend to escalate to corporate office and ask.  or try to Subscribe online using the code, the code might not work when you go to retail stores

but you can ask ask PM agent to escalate and confirm why it is not work
